... in taking a tour of a Russian sub? There is one at Pier 48. Tours are $10. I'm gonna have to go down there and look around. See what's different inside. See what they let you see on the tour and all.

Oh, and, er, Ryan. Be careful. Some things in there don't like bullets.

Is that he one that used to be up in Victoria? My friend was just up there and very upset he missed it.

Yeah. It was just up in B.C. Apparently, they want to keep it here for the next few years.

Is it fully operational and armed?

If not, I'm not interested because my skeleton launch keys would do me no good.

No, it is not fully armed and operational. Damn it. Russian launch keys? What were you thinking?

Oh. Well, dude. So much easier to get onto a loaded one in drydock in Bremerton.

You really think so? I was under the impression they had armed guards and what not.

My stealth suit is still in the shop, anyway. :/

They do have armed guards..... Keep in mind that civilians do most of the overhaul work on the subs in Bremerton. *smiles* Last time I was there security was pathetically lax. Of course, really, why would you want to steal a submarine? All of the missles are typically at Bangor. Much harder to get to.

See, I think the ideal way is to somehow commandere a fully loaded and fully operational unit, which would be highly improbable. I mean, what would I do with the crew? I'm sure they've all seen Hunt for Red October, so that's out...

Top 10 things to do on a Russian Submarine

1. Ask where they keep the vodka.
2. Do your best impersonation of Krushev and intone, "We will bury you!", giggle.
3. Ask the guide if he/she knows Piotyr "Colossus" Rasputin.
4. Ask how many KPR (knots per Rad) this puppy gets.
5. Ask if you can see the periscope. If they allow you, pretend to peep in someone's condo, give graphic details.
6. Ask guide what flavor of Absolute he likes best. Offer some "Peppar" from your hip flask.
7. Tell the guide how much you love Russian actors, especially "that one guy" from Star Trek.
8. Speculate out loud who would win in a fistfight, Yeltsin or Gorbachov.
9. Start telling Yakov Smirnov jokes, demand to know where they are keeping him.

and finally...

10. Ask if he knows you can become a mail-order bride to a rich Russian. Talk about how cousin Ned got him a wife through the INTARWEB from Russia.

If I refrain from any of the above can I go with you? When are you going?

Sure, you can come with me. I haven't decided when I wanted to go yet. I wanted to see who would come with me first.
