A new adventure...
Apr. 4th, 2001 01:14 pmSo, I've been talking to people on the Dr. Atkins diet. All protein and little carbohydrates. It seem to work for people. I borrowed a copy of the book and have been reading it. It makes sense. I know lots of things make sense when presented to you by someone who is trying to sell you something, but I figure it's worth a try.
14 days is supposed to be the trial period for this and that is easily do-able. I can eat meat and cheese and veggies for 14 days. I can't say that I won't miss the pasta and the potatoes and all of that stuff. (I will certainly miss chocolate.) I will also be kicking my caffine habit.
No sugar. No soda. No chocolate. No fruit for the first part of it, but I get the fruit and the potatoes back after the first three weeks or so.
Lots of eggs, meat, veggies and some cheese.
This will be interesting.

Date: 2001-04-04 01:27 pm (UTC)I see a run to the grocery store after work.
I see me putting it on my credit card.
I see me having my food and beating people who try to eat it unless I'm cooking for others.
I see a need for tupperware, too.

Date: 2001-04-04 01:55 pm (UTC)What's up with the caffeine, though? Is caffeine off the menu, even in diet soda? Of course, diet soda does rot yer brain. Hm.
I could go for egg whites and cheese and meat. And multivitamins.
excuse?

Date: 2001-04-04 02:19 pm (UTC)You know. You can fit twenty chickens into the space needed for a cow, fish don't eat rainforest and fart hideous methane compounds, that sort of thing. I'm off cod, though. There's like five of the little guys left in the North Sea after this gross big algae bloom. Really yecchy. Rafts of decomposing sea-life.

Date: 2001-04-04 03:16 pm (UTC)We have tuna and some good big Romaine lettuce leaves...if you got a couple of apples or celery we could put together a fine tuna salad.

Date: 2001-04-04 03:24 pm (UTC)Is it actually mayonase or is it Miracle Whip or something else? It makes a difference.

Carbohydrates like the kind we eat now were introduced after humans came up with agriculture. Well, there were a few wild tubers here and there, but bread and the like was what turned us from fearless warrior monkeys to cowering cityrats.
BREAD MAKES YOU WEAK AND STUPID! WE DO NOT TEACH AGRICULTURE IN THIS DOJO.
Kill. Eat. Be happy.
(not to say that I can resist those carbs...umm num num num...I'm working on getting back on the protein diet, though. It brilliant stuffs.)
