litheraI was putting off doing an entertainment post until I got back but there is just some stuff that I feel a need to put up now.
Like the fact that James McAvoy will be playing Professor X in the upcoming X-Men: First Class movie. Ummmmm. Wha? I have a hard time with that mentally.
Cartoon Network let slip that there is a Green Lantern animated series on the way for 2011 after the movie.
The WB gave out some interest news of their own today. They set a date for the second Sherlock Holmes movie - December 16, 2011. They also made solid a few other dates people might be interested in: "The Hangover 2" (May 26, 2011), "Green Lantern" (June 17, 2011), "Happy Feet 2" (November 18, 2011). Superman is aiming at a 2012 release, which, well they have to with all of the legal issues surrounding it. (Yes, a Batman and a Superman movie in the same year, folks. The sky might be falling....)
They also said that a Flash movie is being fast tracked and that Wonder Woman (sigh) and Aquaman are also 'being developed'. I love both of those heroes but, really, any news with either of them just creates a cynical feeling I can't entirely dismiss. (And if one of these actually gets to casting, the sky will be falling.)
The really surprising bit is that they'll be developing a MAD property. Really, the only one I can think of developing is "Spy vs. Spy" which is something that has been circling the rumor mill for awhile but could be interesting to see done. I used to love those things. I even played the video game when I was younger.
Bruce Willis looks likely to star in Antoine Fuqua's next directorial effort, "The Tomb", according to Deadline New York. He would play a prison designer who, after being framed, is forced to escape from the very super-secure penitentiary that he helped to create.
It looks like Legendary Pictures is going to be trying to fast track a "Mass Effect" movie, which I'm not too sure about, all in all.
