So, on the way over it really looks like Heathrow and Frankfurt are my choices, unless I'd like my trip to take more than a day. (No thank you, 25+ hours on planes.) I went through Frankfurt last time and was not impressed. So, British Air from Seattle to Heathrow to Chennai....

On the way back... Bangkok, Singapore, Incheon and Narita in various combinations.

I will not fly through O'Hare or SFO, I do that enough as it is, thanks.

I flew through Heathrow on my way to/from India and found it a wonderful airport. Clean, lovely bathrooms, good choice of food, and large, plush waiting lounges for sleeping during long layovers.

Yeah. I like Heathrow, for the most part.

But Frankfurt is right next to Offenbach. You can fly over my Oma's old apartment and see where my mom grew up, the place where I spent my summers in Germany.

Of course, none of that may mean anything to you, so you might as well do Heathrow....

I'll be in Singapore from June to August, too bad the times don't overlap.

If you have a long wait at Frankfurt, don't take it. Ten years ago, it was right bloody boring, unless things have changed. Heathrow's lovely.

I LOVE Singapore airport. I had a twelve hour wait there and there was so much to do.

Including a really hot guy from my flight.

Thanks for the recommendation, m'dear. I'm thinking Singapore sounds interesting, even for just the airport.

It is. When I was there they had this cool museum type thing, a theatre or two, TONS of shopping, some surprisingly good places to eat...

From then onwards, any trip to India, I went Singapore. The people were really nice and friendly too.

When we lived in Illinois, by first choice was KLM, because Amsterdam airport also rocked, but I don't think there's a direct flight from here to Amsterdam to India on the west coast.

Alas.

I love Schipol. It is one of my favorite airports in the world. I had like a 12 hour layover there once. Had I know Amsterdam was so close, I'd have taken the train in and wandered about some.
