Greg Kinnear and Katie Holmes will star in ‘The Kennedys,’ the History Channel’s first scripted miniseries. ..... What? Ow.

There is a Commando reboot coming. Really? Commando? C'mon people. Just make an original movie with guys with guns, okay? Still, that isn't what makes me want to bash my head against my desk. No, that would be the Magic 8 Ball movie that someone is trying to get going. *sigh*

Pajiba is reporting that WB is looking into a Starman movie based on the James Robinson/Tony Harris comic. Which would be... interesting. I think there is movie gold in the B and C tiers of both DC and Marvel. (Then again, I do love me lesser known characters...)

According to Production Weekly, a production office for "The First Avenger: Captain America" (AKA, geeze that's a clunky title) has been opened at Shepperton Studios in London, with filming scheduled to begin on June 28th. Ta-da! Wonder if they'll have anything to bring to San Diego with only a month of filming.

J.J. Abrams has his next movie and it will be both a tribute to and a collaboration with Steven Spielberg. He's amazingly tight lipped with details but it is going to be dealing with the usual Spielbergness of typical people up against atypical situations. I've seen it refered to by some as the 'Anti-Avatar' in terms of budget and special effects. Let's hope we're taking Jaws and E.T as the models.

The voice casting on The Smurfs is out of control. Seriously just out of control (though in a good way). If there was a Smurf you were wondering about, you'll likely see them. "Joining the cast that already includes Katy Perry, Hank Azaria, George Lopez, and Alan Cumming are Daily Show’s John Oliver, playing Vanity Smurf; Saturday Night Live‘s Kenan Thompson and Fred Armisen as Greedy Smurf and Brainy Smurf, respectively; The Office’s B.J. Novak as Baker Smurf; and comedian Jeff Foxworthy as Handy Smurf. They join Pee-wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens, who, as previously reported by Deadline.com, will play Jokey Smurf. Also lending their voices to the little blue creatures are Wolfgang Puck — playing none other than Chef Smurf — and veteran character actor Gary Basaraba as Hefty Smurf. Star Trek’s Anton Yelchin will voice Clumsy Smurf."
