Hugh Laurie is going to direct his first episode of ‘House.’ It is said to air sometime this spring.

I was totally thrilled to see Molly go on SYTYCD last night. In fact, I would have prefered to see two girls go this time because I think the guys are at least interesting where as the girls are mostly all the same stuff. Blah, blah, blah, boring.

Marc Guggenheim will be writing Action Comics next year for War of the Supermen. (He writes Flash Forward right now and has written The Flash in the past.) I'm glad they'll be focusing on Superman, I'm not sure I'm interested in a big Supermen event, though. Where's the Aquaman love?

Disney has acquired the rights to "Fallen." The plot to this books sounds a little familiar to me. "The contemporary story centers on an alienated girl torn between two charismatic young men, unaware that they are fallen angels who have battled over her for centuries." Uh-huh. *rubs her forehead* Angels next?

There is more "Star Wars" movies stuff wandering about. Look, guys, until you hear it from Lucas, don't bother. He's got at least one live-action TV show promised already and... Yeah. Just relax, okay?

Josh Brolin is being considered for an unspecified role in "Men in Black 3."

It seems Sony wants Katherine Heigl to star in a remake of "Overboard." She's not all that, people. She's pretty but I'm mostly unconvinced by her skills as an actress.

Word is Disney's next title (after Rapunzel) is "The Snow Queen" which has been in the works "for quite awhile". Lots of possibilities there.

Hrrrmmmm.

First Romancing the Stone, now Overboard? I'm sorry, but there is no universe in which Heigl holds a candle to either Kathleen Turner or Goldie Hawn. (Hell, Goldie's own daughter can't hold a candle to her, which makes me feel badly for Kate. Every time I watch a movie with her I keep expecting her to be...well. Goldie.)

Exactly. And Overboard was fun and all that but really? A remake? Nnnnnng.

Well, yes. It's not exactly great cinema.

I still think the movie studios should, instead of re-making old greats (not to claim Overboard is one of them), should re-release them, and do these great romantic nostalgic promotional campaigns that convince young people they're suave, intelligent, romantic and attractive by going to and enjoying old films, while re-creating the lost blush of youth for the older generations. All the money, none of the risk, with that kind of campaign. It's not like Casablanca needs to earn out its production costs, y'know?

I totally agree. And it might help people remember why going to see a movie in a theater is an awesome thing. I remember when the Cinerama showed an original print of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Man, that was awesome.

Meredith watches SYTYCD with me in the room. I've picked on some of it, including how awkwardly youthful yet fully developed (in the body) Molly was. The youthful part kept her away from any truly sensual movements, it all seemed like what you'd see if you watched those awful Cheerleader movies. Bring It On? Something like that? It was weird, regardless.

Agreed on all of the Katherine Heigl sentiment. She doesn't have the chops, and her character (and acting) annoyed me enough to stop watching Grey's entirely.

Totally. She was bouncy and bubbly and I would never have kept her into the top 10. She was a lot of potential that just never developed near enough.

Luckily, she's not on the show right now, which makes it much better. And with Meredith and McDreamy actually married and all of that darma gone, it seems to have found a path again.

To be fair to Fallen, the books I think predate Twilight, and this isn't the first attempt to make a film out of it. ABC Family tried and failed in '05 or so.

I think. It sounds similar enough.

So very true but it sounds like the Vampire Diaries even more directly which are a TV show now and came out when I was in high school.... So...

Oh, no doubt.

It's the current trend, and so people are going to jump onboard like crazy.
