So, I spent most of Thursday , Friday and Saturday feeling just awful. Yesterday I had just enough energy to feel better about having more energy - not enough to do much about it. (Saturday was pathetic in that after walking around a few blocks downtown, I was ready for a nap.) Today I feel mostly better but I still have a wicked headache (intermittantly) and am still a little fatigued but I'm feeling better.

Thank goodness because the /last/ thing I want to do is fly to Vegas sick. Again. Really, twice in one year would be a bit much.

I'm currently reading a book I don't like too much. The author seems far too fond of introducing characters just to kill them off. It serves, for awhile, to prove to you that this is really, really serious but after the third or fourth time, I started wondering if it was needed. Taking the time to flesh these characters just to off them? Hell, the fourth time an entire ship is sunk killing everyone on it. Yes, yes. I get it. People are dying and things are seriously dangerous. No need to hit me over the head again with the numbers.

I'm getting a tux. That's so cool. The experience of getting it at Nordstrom's was likely the nicest, least embarassing and frustrating clothing shopping experience of my entire life. I'm seriously contemplating getting a few more suits there. I like suits.

That, of course, must wait for awhile. I have the Geek Chic case coming to me as well as doing house hunting as I got reapproved. (Hooray!) I'd really rather not put out more money than those two things right now (though one is much, much more than the other one). Especially with the haunting spector of closing costs out there. There are a lot of nice houses out there and having gotten approved for /more/ this time makes the search a little easier. I'll let you all know if anything looks promising.

Oh Batman, is there anything you can't solve? (Shhhhhh!)

I have to admit. I admire the Bat logic in this one. :)

As do I. It seems like good rationale to me.

This is why I will never read anything of George R. R. Martin's again.

Hrmmmm. Anyone in particular that felt that way to you? Most of the deaths in there, from my point of view at least, are there to cause plot developments. In fact, nothing that happens in the rest of the books would have happened if the first big death didn't occur.

All of them, really. Not that there weren't plot-driving deaths or causally necessary ones in the context of the story, but it read very much like he made a list of characters, ordered from most to least likable, and then specifically crafted a story to knock them off in order (excepting maybe King Melted-gold-on-your-face).

Interesting. There is really only one death that has bothered me at all and it is the first one. After that, there wasn't anyone I was particularly attached to that has died. (Though I am on a cliffhanger with one of them, so that's possible.)

Now I'm curious to know what the book is. It sounds like GRRMartin, but my guess is that's not it.

And suits are awesome. Tuxes are more awesome. I'd be tempted to get one, but I do like dresses, too. Although...which Nordy's did you go to? Downtown? (Ponders getting a long skirt and a tux jacket, or maybe just fixing the one I have....)

It isn't at all GRRM. It is some military semi-scifi novel. There are people fleshed out just enough that you might care enough about them to be sad when they die in a hail of gunfire. Or wash up on a beach. Or get sucked out into a storm and drown...

Oh, and yeah, downtown Nordy's.

I love shopping at Nordstrom - - and Nordstrom Rack for my more casual needs.

I'm glad you're feeling a bit better, hon. I like my Kat a happy Kat.

Whoo on the reapproval. :D And...uh....[this might, like, be a way stupid question?] but what's this Geek Chic case?
