Stuff and things and such.
Aug. 26th, 2009 10:01 amThe most recent horrible Batman 3 rumor is that Megan Fox is 'signed' to play Catwoman. Can I just ask people to stop with the rumors on this movie? Nothing is happening yet and The Sun can just cut it the hell out. And the idea of Megan Fox playing Selina Kyle really makes my skin crawl. I've seen nothing out of her yet that convinces me she can act any better than the random person on the street.
Speaking of Bat rumors, there is one that Batman 3 will be filmed entirely in IMAX. That seems an odd choice to me as that limits the number of theaters you could get it in, even with all of the faux IMAX screens out there.
People who watch Leverage, please note taht Wil Wheaton's appearance is coming up on that show. Everything I've heard from everyone who has seen it is that this is fantastically funny stuff.
This is a good week for comics. I'm fiending for the new issue of Detective. I can't even tell you how much I want that in my hands. Wonder Woman is also out this week and the preview I'm seeing is fantastic and fun. Which reminds me - someone asked me for a list of things I'm reading and would recommend. I'll do my best to get you a list of what I really love reading right now later today.
Australian website Inside Film is saying recent gains in the Australian dollar along with continuing script work puts the Green Lantern production there in jeopardy.
Timur Bekmambetov tells MTV News that he's expecting to be filming Wanted 2 by winter. I still haven't heard that Angelina's signed up for the sequel...
From Bleeding Cool - "Paul Levitz, President and Publisher of DC Comics will now no longer report to President and COO of Warner Bros, Alan Horn, but to fellow executive Diane Nelson, President of Warner Premiere." That might not sound like much but it could make a pretty big difference on how DC properties go to film. She's been the person dealing with the Harry Potter brand for the past ten years. It would make sense that as those movies are wrapping up, she'd start to look for other things.
Here is a very interesting take on Batgirl #1 - http://www.factualopinion.com/the_factual_opinion/2009/08/batgirl_1.html
Ian McKellen says that Bilbo has been cast.
Smallville will have a Mia on it this season. And, yes, she's going to be called "Speedy" and will wear a lot of red and yellow and she's gonna be hanging out with Ollie.
Are any of you still watching Heroes? There is an episode I might tune in for, as it seems Hiro gets to visit Charlie again at some point this season.
Susan Sarandon is in talks to join Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. Talk about a clunky title.
Unsurprisingly, Neil Blomkamp says that the studio is asking him for a sequel to District 9. He seems uncertain if he wants to do one. With the end of District 9 I can't imagine there would be much of a movie beyond a large battle that would do Michael Bay proud. Unless, of cours,e you went to the alien planet and they just weren't that moved to rescue their fellows from medical experimentation.

Date: 2009-08-26 07:48 pm (UTC)I am tempted to compile a list of deceased/in comic limbo/horribly changed comic book characters I really want to see back. And shout them. Repeatedly.
Because, between Kon, Bart, Steph...they were all brought back from the dead, most of the really bad changes corrected on a bloody silver platter served by a nubile half-naked serving person of the reader's gender preference, and with Batgirl here each of them are getting their own comic again. And people are still complaining.
I would kill for some writer to give that treatment to characters I miss. I'd be...thankful, for it.

Date: 2009-08-26 07:59 pm (UTC)I haven't read the issue yet and I don't really have an opinion on the matter. I've gotten less grumpy about most things fanish. There aren't a lot of things that really bother me beyond a surface level.

Date: 2009-08-26 08:17 pm (UTC)I gave up comics for the most part. Too much grief. But I check to see what goes on, and the negative reaction to Steph getting her own book just killed me. (This was after I saw a lot of Happy in regard to the retcon bringing her back and rescuing Leslie's character at the same time.). What I would give...
