Best quote ever from Michael Bay on why he's done with Transformer movies: “I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions.” Without explosions? HOW CAN THAT BE?

Writer James Robinson and artist Mark Bagley are going to be the new team on JLA. Interesting choices. I'm not sure if that's compelling enough to get me to pick it back up, though.

$159.95 for all of Strangers in Paradise. "The complete SIP story is contained in two 1100 page hardcovers with dust jackets and a bonus color cover gallery hardcover with dust jacket all in a gorgeous slipcase!" I have to say, I'm actually tempted. It would clear up a LOT of room in my long boxes, as like... one whole box is dedicated to this comic. I'd keep the signed Jim Lee drawn color issue... *ponders* And, of course, like the recolored Sandman collections, I could always brain someone with them in self-defense.

Variety reports that Olivia Munn, lovely host of G4's daily "Attack of the Show" has landed a role in Iron Man 2. No idea who she's playing.

Arisia! - http://blog.newsarama.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10087/normal_lans_15.jpg YEAH!

Brian Austin Green will be on "Smallville" next year as Metallo. They're really, really trying to get me back, aren't they?

Yeah, I've been eyeing that SiP too. I just can't justify the cost right now, and I doubt it'll still be around when I can. :p

The opposite of explosions is IMPLOSIONS. Remember that.

So Michael Bay does Implosions then?

Maybe he realizes he doesn't want to end up like The Hoff, wallowing in his own irony.

Mmmmmm. Certainly possible.

The SIP set is an awesome idea! I have the first four or five of the hardcovers (and all the individual issues up to a certain point.)

I'm very tempted to grab that when I'm in San Diego.

You know, I've never read SiP. Do you think I should check it out?

Hard to say. It is good relationship stuff but he ends up running through the same plot loops a few times toward the end to make sure that he gets it the way he wants it to be... I can loan you the first collection, if you want. The characters are all great, though.

To me it always bounced back and forth between giving the impression that it was sharp teenage drama/satire and just an Americanized relationship manga. Confirm/deny?

I don't think I've read enough relationship manga to specifically say but the sharp drama/satire is true enough - some teenage and some not.

I'll rephrase: was it Juno before Juno was Juno or was it The OC: Let's Patronize Nerds Edition?

More toward Juno but it gets away from high school for most of the story.

There are yakuza and bodyguards and pain and death as well.

Michael Bay can eat a dick.
We were gonna get a screening of Transformers today, but NOOOOOO *HE* had to go and cancel them (invoking some obscure director right clause).

Fucker.

That's okay. I've heard nothing but bad things about it, including the fact that two of the robots were racist. Awesome.

Looks like screening was rescheduled to Tuesday...

Racist robots? Nice. :-P
