In case you've been thinking about getting a Kindle.... You now get $100 off Kindle when you get the new Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card.

It is tempting.

Not that I need another credit card in my life.

Still. I must say...

I've been wanting one of those since I first heard about it. But they don't seem to be available in Canada, and I know that offer wouldn't be anyway. If it was, and I could afford another credit card, I'd be tempted too.

I am getting more and more tempted to get some form of ebook reader.

Still, I want a non-DRM one.

Very hard to do as publishers haven't run into contracts that call for non-DRM very much and book distribustion contracts are pretty solid, so anything non-DRM requires a completely new negotiation.

Which is a huge pain in the ass.

Baen is all non-DRM, as is the stuff on Project Gutenberg.

Sony has a multi-platform eBook reader, which is kind of the way I'm leaning right now.

I understand that Baen has done that of their own volition and good for them but one cannot launch a product with Baen titles alone. And Sony's e-book reader is... okay. I've used it. It is okay. I have a feeling that there will be some movement toward a solution on the DRM thing soonish but I don't know for sure. No one was happy with that path.
