We got a very brief message from our branch down there that said most phone and cell service is down. I think they lost connection after that.

Yeah. It seems to have done a number on communications down there.

Things further out seem to be normalizing, though I've heard that communications closer to the epicenter are still out.

It was not the usual earthquake~~ there was no fun rolling motion :P It was a sharp jolting shaking. I would rather it rolled :)
