Movie news and such
Jul. 9th, 2008 11:27 amThe rumors about a new Robocop continue to swirl about. Darren Aronofsky looks like the leading choice for a director. Robocop is an interesting movie on a lot of different levels, as much as that statement might get laughs in certain company, I stand by the statement. I don't think it needs to be remade but the issues looked at could use another look or two.
Wendy and Richard Pini's Elfquest comics are coming from Warner Bros., written, produced and directed by Rawson Thurber. Yeah. That .... Yeah. I don't feel confident there.
Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, reports that many of its pre-opening Thursday midnight shows on July 17 are already sold out in cities across the country. They're adding 3:00am and 6:00am in theaters across the country.
Ugh. That Red Dawn remake (STOP WITH THE REMAKES) has a writer and a director now. I'm going to stop talking about it. Maybe it'll go away.
Looks like your first Watchmen trailer will be coming in front of The Dark Knight. Extra bang for your buck there.
DC released a list of people who will and will be at SDCC for them. Mostly it is who you would expect with a few people not on the list. Then again, the people not on the list do work for other people as well. The list is a million people long and I'm not listing it here. It is press released and easily findable.
Showtime and Dexter producer Sara Colleton are going to put The Exterminatorsm on the air, based on the canceled Vertigo series by Simon Oliver and Tony Moore.
MTV has put up an interesting look at the evolution of The Joker - http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1590412/story.jhtml Not too shabby.
TV Guide has a first look at the Direct to DVD Wonder Woman movie here - http://community.tvguide.com/blog-entry/TVGuide-News-Blog/Todays-News/Exclusive-Look-Wonder/800042749
Rupert Grint will be in Cherrybomb , a teen drama about two friends whose furious competition for a beautiful but manipulative girl has tragic (oh no) consequences. Looks like the Potter kids are mostly trying to keep moving on. Good for them.
And something really cool happened in NYC and Chicago last night related to The Dark Knight viral. I'll be writing it up later.
