A day for love...

Okay, so when I do things like this, I usually forget someone. I'm going to try not to do that but if I do... I'm totally sorry. I know today is supposed to be for romantic love but to hell with that. I'm not about to sit around and be mopey about it.

From the top we have:

My mom and dad - We've had our rough times, as I think all parent and child relationships have but I think we're in a solid place now. I'm glad to know you both and appreciate your love and support.

Megan - My little sister. Even now that you're married and have a son, you're still my little sister and pretty much always will be. I miss you and wish life were more amicable to us visiting more often.

My entire Vegas branch of the family - You guys are totally cool. I'm sorry I'm a little late to the party on that one but only recently has it dawned on me how completely awesome you are. I need to get down there more often.

My grandparents - I'm still very glad to have you in my life.

Mike - You've been adopted by my family, so it re-emphasizes the whole brother thing. I'm glad we went through the rough times and the strange and winding path that it took to get here. They were more than worth it.

Holly - God, am I so glad that you jumped me in the Buchanan Towers lobby. I cannot imagine what life would be like without you in it. You're my excuse for wacky adventures and a lot of the time, my reason. I wouldn't come up with these ideas if it I didn't have you to pitch them to. I'd be missing out on a whole hell of a lot of fun.

Kris - Thank you. You support me in a lot of little ways all of the time. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Leigh - It took awhile for us to be cool with each other but I'm glad that we are. I can't imagine it being otherwise.

David - Ten this year. That's huge. You're well on your way to teenagerness. Scary times there but I have faith you'll come out fine.

Max - We've both come so far from where we started out. It is an amazing thing and I have nothing but respect for you and your choices.

Marci - I miss you. I wish we could see each other more often. You've always been warm and loving and supportive and I thank you for it.

Tina, Luke and Toby - I love you all as individuals but you've become such a family together. It is amazing to see those bonds strengthen and grow. I look forward to watching you continue along the path together.

Laura - We've talked about it some. I enjoyed having you visit and am still sort of in awe at how easily you fit into things here. That just doesn't happen. I know you're having a rough time of it and I hope that it will turn around soon.

Rach - You're an amazing woman. Thank you for being a part of my life.

Richard - We've covered this a lot recently. So. Thank you. I am very glad to know you.

Andy H. - Man, I had such a crush on you for THE LONGEST time. And from time to time it still makes itself known. When it comes down to it, though, I've glad to call you friend. Glad to be able to bounce things off of you and to know you have my back.

Josh - Thanks for being there. I know you're one of the people I can call when the chips are down and that means more than I can say easily.

Meaghan - Sometimes it takes a few times around and people being in different places before you get to know someone. Thanks for the spa trip. We need to do it again some time.

Steve - You're a constant. In my life there are a lot of people who move around and shift and push and strain and even if I get frustrated with you, you're not one of them. I hope that makes sense.

Pamela - *hugs* That's really all I can think of right now but I think it says it.

Lys - You're my Pirate Queen. I'm so excited to be able to meet you in person in July. I'm going to be such a dorky basket case. I can't wait.

Brian - You'll likely never see this but that's totally okay. You have startling insight. I like having people in my life who look at things in completely different ways than I do. Thank you.

Sean - Your wicked glee is sometimes a bit much but it fits you well and I enjoy being able to dabble my toes in the pool now and then. Thank you for enabling the enabler from time to time.

Kyna - Remember to breathe, sweetie. I hope that you're having a fantastic time on your well deserved vacation. Remember, it isn't all as scary as you've built it up to be.

Steven - You'd go over the wall and come back for me, eh? That means a hell of a lot. Especially for someone who has such a hard time waiting and not just going over the damned wall herself. You've really been a support recently and I appreciate it so very much.

Amit - Just move up here already, would you? It would make so many things so very much easier.

Jabriel - Sometimes I have a hard time relating the you I first met to the man you've become but I'm very, very glad to even have had the smallest part in the transformation. I love talking movies with someone who loves them as much as I do.

Skau - Your wit and insight are always in demand. I love talking to you about just about anything.

Carol - Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm hoping we can squeeze in a movie or two this summer. Maybe take the girls to the zoo?

Angel, Cherie, Aric, Ben, Doug, Ian, Chris, Jenga, Anne and anyone else I missed because I am a total flake and have already edited this to add more people to it, thank you for being in my life and for your friendship. It is appreciated even if I don't always demonstrate that as much as I might like.

I still haven't bought my plane ticket. I'm holding out for another two interviews in the next couple of weeks. I'd hate to drop the non-refundable bucks only to find out they won't let me take that much time off.

On the other hand...murphy's law says if I spend $400 on a nonrefundable ticket, of COURSE I'll get a job. Cheaper than buying new suits. Maybe I should look into that. Nah, doing it on purpose would jinx it. :)

I think I'm going to be there Wed - Sun (Note to self: I need to check and see if my checkout is Sunday or Monday). We'll have cellphone numbers and landmarks. There will be Inspector Gadgetesque peering around corners and stealthy sneaking and whatnot.

But don't worry, m'dear. I have +9 Elbows Of Shoving. I got 22 people through a crowd of half a million at Thunder last year. We not only stayed together, but ended up directly in front of the fireworks barges while sitting on the riverwall, dangling our feet in the water.

I have yet to meet a crowd that can best me. I may be short, but that just makes me meaner and more devious.

I love you so much Kat, and I was going to explain why in terms of things you're good at that I'm not (like anything involving arrangements), and how even if you might think you're faking it you still have your shit together better than almost everybody I know and you help remind me that life isn't actually about stupid utility bills.
