Just a busy, busy time...

More movie stuff. Seriously. There is a lot of news these days.

From Alan Tudyk, re: Serenity - “They had to put [the new DVD] out because they’ve been selling out of the other one and so Universal’s like ‘So, let’s do another one’. And now… there’s now a chance there’s going to be another movie."

So - all of you stop getting excited right now and breathe. 1) Why would he be the one to be talking about this? That's wacky. 2) While the show on DVD got us a movie, I can't see the movie DVD sales getting another theater release movie. What I can see 3) is a Direct to DVD movie which is something Universal does a lot of. Especially if this became episodic. I could buy into getting a new installment one every two months or something and it would put Firefly back into a format I think it was much better suited to in the first place.

Escape from New York is getting a remake. I know I mentioned that before and asked Why the hell was this happening. It's gotten worse. The director they had (Len Wiseman) has left the project. And his replacement is someone everyone should know how I feel about by now - Brett Ratner. Someone put this thing out of its misery RIGHT NOW.

The writers for Transformers 2 .... Crap. Just let me write the thing. Or I'll sit down with Andy and bash something out, okay? Ehren Kruger isn't the worst thing out there but c'mon.

I'd be really suprised to see another Firefly movie. Not opposed, but suprised. I also doubt that they'd try a straight to video approach. That's the kind of thing you do just to make a little money, throw 2 million at a shitty production, sell it internationally, make your money back and walk away.

I don't know. They've done 4 American Pie Straight to DVDs now... And if you think in terms of what internet commerce and sales in general are sliding toward... it makes a lot of sense.

I am going to squee sincerely about the rumour as well. Not because it might be true (though it might), but because Alan is such a Browncoat that he felt the need to confide in us about this idea, random though it may be.
