EDIT: Apparently Loyaly Day has roots in the 1920s and then later in the McCarthy Era. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loyalty_Day Weird, I don't think I've ever heard of it before.

Yeah, I have a vague memory of hearing about this before. We basically created a rah-rah America-is-awesome day to coincide with international Labour Day, in much the same spirit as a "Support Our Troops" rally showing up down the block from a war protest.
