Here is your movie/TV and other fun stuff news.

HBO has acquired the rights to turn George R.R. Martin's bestselling fantasy series "A Song of Fire and Ice" into a dramatic series to be written and executive produced by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. Before you get too excited, I remind you that this is just optioned and that there are steps between optioning and actually becoming television. I refer you all here. And then I say, well, damn, HBO, you might just end up making me get your damned channel.

Gwyneth Paltrow will join Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard in Iron Man as Pepper Potts. (She's Tony's seceretary.)

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Terence Stamp are set to join Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway in Get Smart.

HBO's usually good with options, though. And Martin is involved with it himself (Yay, more book delays). I agree with MGK on where the pilot episode should end, though. It's the perfect 'You viewers are our bitches, now!' stopping point. :)

I say that last because while I found the beginning of A Game of Thrones pretty good, that was the point where I was sucked in.

Okay, I had a minor heart attack in which I thought they actually cast the Rock as Maxwell Smart, and then I reread that sentence and figured out what's more likely - and now am having MAJOR FANGASM. TERRENCE "ZOD" AND "BERNADETTE" STAMP AS HEAD OF C.H.A.O.S.

O.M. FUCKING. G. *faints*

Also am cautiously optimistic about Song of Ice and Fire (which is actually the title, silly silly newsfeeds)... I want a castlist, stat! :D
