Coming on the Sci-Fi Channel.....

Based on Neal Stephenson's best-selling novel "The Diamond Age: Or a Young Lady's Illustrated Primer," this six-hour miniseries is executive produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov of Smokehouse Productions. A prominent member of a conservative futuristic society grows concerned that the culture stifles creativity, and commissions a controversial interactive book for his daughter, which serves as her guide through a surreal alternate world. When the primer's provocative technology, which adapts to the reader's responses, falls into the hands of a young innocent, the girl's life is accidentally reprogrammed with dangerous results. Neal Stephenson will adapt his own novel for this project, the first time the Hugo and Nebula winning author has written for the small screen.

EDIT TO ADD: SCI FI Channel has greenlit production on "Flash Gordon," based on the popular comic strip franchise, it was announced today at the Television Critic's Association tour. Production on the 22 one-hour episodes begins in Canada in early 2007. The series, produced by Reunion Pictures, is slated to debut on SCI FI in July of '07, with a broadcast syndication window to follow.

It seems an... interesting choice for a miniseries. I liked the book too, I just prefered others of his books more.

I must say that Diamond Age is my favorite Stephenson, so this could be interesting. Is there a date set yet?

Not that I see. It is on the 2007 slate, though, so some time this year.

Yes, but one could argue that a lot of his books wouldn't translate very well.

Although I'd love to see someone do Snow Crash as a movie.
