So, that horrible Jack Black GL movie rumor is going around again. Bleh. So, I will counter that horribleness with this awesomeness.

Hellboy 2 has a home! Universal will be putting it out and the plot, from what I've heard of it, sounds pretty fun. Less Cthulu and more Brothers Grimm but it should still easily work.

Marie Antoinette looks to be an interesting film, somewhat in the vein of A Knight's Tale. Sofia Coppola is a director I've liked so far, so... we'll see.

And... other stuff but nothing really all that interesting.

I had an interesting time figuring out what today was. Thursday..? Wednesday..? Wha?

Hellboy 2...hmmm....will ponder.

I was really excited about Knight's Tale until I saw the ads with the crowd doing the wave and the We Will Rock you riff. Then my head fell into my hands. I refused to see it in the theatres but watched it out of curiousity at home on dvd. Yep. Didn't miss much other than getting a good chuckle from Chaucer.

Watched the Libertine. Interesting. I always enjoy John Malkovich and Depp as a libertine was just mmmmmm. I didn't know the story before going into it so now I want to do some research then watch it again.

I really liked A Knight's Tale. It isn't supposed to be serious in the least. Taking it that way... Yeah. Not supposed to be serious at all. It is fun and makes me chuckle. I just wish there were more of the blacksmith girl and less of the princess girl.

So, The Libertine is worth watching?

The first set of trailers/commercials for AKT made it look authentic and serious which is why I got excited about the movie. When they started showing the modern additions in the trailers I became highly disappointed with a feeling of betrayal that they sucked me in with the first set of trailers.

If you enjoyed films like Elizabeth and other historical dramas, then yes. I would recommend it. I don't know how historically accurate it is but I intend to find out. Word of caution: parts of it borders on soft core. Left me all flustered. ;)

*snicker* I give nothing away by stating: Apparently 17th century French are impressed with dildos.

I don't know Jack about DC comics, but that Green Lantern is smokin' hot. I'm there.

I am also all about Hellboy 2. Yay for this resurgance in GOOD comic movies. (We'll pretend X3 never happened in that context. *sniff, sniff*)

Well, I rather liked Jack in King Kong but otherwise, the only Lantern I can see him playing is, duh, Guy Gardner.

I have nothing against Jack Black. I love Jack Black. I just don't like that movie idea. Bleh.

AKT + Libertine

Luckily I actually saw an interview with the producers of AKT befoer I saw it so I went in with an understanding of why they threw inthe modernisms. And Libertine was quite authentic in its presentation, stylish in its own way but I'll second the softcore comment.

I don't object to the Jack Black idea. Here's why it can work.

How did Hal get the GL ring? A guy was dying and needed a replacement tout suite.

How did Kyle get the GL ring? Guardians were dying and they needed a ringbearer tout suite, and they found this kid in an alley.

This kind of scenario can happen, and the guy they choose out of desperation doesn't have to be Handsome White Man. It can be Jack freakin' Black. And it could be funny.

The bits of the script I've read just sound stupid. And I've already seen that premise - it was called The Mask. I'd really rather they do a Corps movie.
