litheraDid you like the colors and aesthetic of Hero? Did you like the story of House of Flying Daggers? Or perhaps you liked the hyper-realism of Kung Fu Hustle? Or maybe you like smarmy bastard bad guys who use war fans? And he just gets hotter and hotter the more and more smarmy he gets? Then The Promise is for you.
It was a little too light for me in places but it really does find its stride about half an hour into it. I really, really liked the movie and there are some good laughs in it but it is certain worth a viewing.
Silent Hill...
Hrmmm. Well, I think I'll write that up some other time. Or hold it for conversations.
I liked it. It was creepy. I think it over did it a bit in places but nothing that killed the movie for me.
And I'm over the first wave of nerves for the trip tomorrow. Thank God.
There will be at least one more before I get to sleep and one more on the way to the airport, likely.
