The anatomy of a Super Bowl loss

First, I would like to say congrats to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Especially Jerome Bettis. The man is a class act and if we had to lose, I don't mind him winning.

Here is what I've taken away from the game -

1. Dropped passes. There were at least four dropped passes that would have made the difference in the game. Had Jerramy Stevens converted on any one of them... You can't win a game when you let that many balls slip through your fingers.

2. Uncaught punt. What the heck was up with that? It wasn't a huge play but it was an example of us not really being in the game after a certain point. It got scattered and lost.

3. Inability to convert. We just didn't. There were plays where we should have scored, in fact would have scored in just about any other game I've watched this season and we didn't.

4. Officiating. It was bad. It was just bad. I cannot believe that those officials were the best of the best. There were so many calls that were just awful.... *makes a face*

Again. Congrats Pittsburgh.

Clearly Paul Allen should have bought a few refs. Because Pittsburgh did...

Crooked fucking refs. You know what I would have liked to have seen? The Steelers win without having to cheat. In my opinion Seattle won and the refs lost.

Those calls were more crooked than your penis.

[identity profile] inevitability.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
And my penis? Pretty crooked. ;)

Offensive pass interference negating the touchdown - bad call.

Ben's rushing TD - the review was correct in that there wasn't enough evidence to over turn the initial call. The initial call was what was bad.

The holding penalties - everytime Seattle had a good play, it seemed they had a hold as well.

Clock management - what the hell was up at the end of the two halves? Seattle looked like they had no idea what they were doing.

---

Seattle outplayed the Steelers, but combining two huge plays by the Steelers, and the Seahawks shooting themselves in the foot at the end of the half, was what ultimately made them lose this game.

Yeah. I meant to put clock management on there and I didn't. The two minute drill was just bad on our part.

[identity profile] grocible.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
Clock management will also kill a good time - always.

It hurt the Colts earlier, and it hurt the Seahawks today.

The fact that Stevens couldn't catch a damn thing certainly didn't help, but the fact that the refs basically took away a Seahawks touchdown on a very minor penalty, and took them off the five yard line for something even the announcers said never happened while awarding a touchdown to the Steelers for planting the ball on the green and then moving it into the endzone is why we lost.

That 10-21 should have been more like 17-14

But what's a Code Black?

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know yet. The show isn't on for another 30 minutes.

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
It hasn't happened yet.

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
Nope. There was a woman who wouldn't stop screaming and one of the interns screamed back at her to get her to stop. That was awesome.

There was also a gratuitous shower scene between the three hot girls in the begining.

[identity profile] sharkcowsheep.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
I like the screaming thing. :) Was one of the girls in the shower Sandra Oh?

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, she was, in fact, one of them.

[identity profile] sharkcowsheep.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
I love her. So far as I know she's the only Korean-Canadian working in TV right now.

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:24 am (UTC)(link)
I love her. She's great.

So... It turns out that these two guys built a WWII bazooka from scratch and fired it but it didn't go off and the guy went to go stand in front of it and then it fired.

So, he has an unexploded bazooka round in his gut.

[identity profile] sharkcowsheep.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
That's why they have to shut down the entire hospital? Damn. From the way they were carrying on I assumed it was a kilo of C4 in his stomach or something.

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, in a place where there is a ton of oxygen and other flamables, where they don't allow smoking firstly because of flamable other than cancer health risks.

[identity profile] sharkcowsheep.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. So, the screaming lady covered in blood from the commercial was the one the intern screamed at, and a Code Black means a risk of FOOM.

What about the chick with premonitions of death?

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she had a bad feeling this morning and didn't want to go to work.

And yeah, Code Black means possible explosion in a place that would... well... even a little explosion in an operating room would probably level the hospital.

[identity profile] sharkcowsheep.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
My yearning to know things has been laid to rest. All is well.

[identity profile] sharkcowsheep.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
Except now I gotta know if stuff blew up or if the guy died.

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a cliffhanger. I don't know if he blows up or what yet, either.

[identity profile] obake.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Damnit! I need to know! (But I don't want to actually watch the show.)

We were speculating on what a "Code Black" was since one of the people who was at our Super Bowl party actually works in a hospital and that code doesn't exist in her hospital.

[identity profile] lithera.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
That show is much, much better than I think it has any right to be. I love it. I'm so addicted.

I guess if you had people come in to a place with bombs or other explosives more than once you'd create a code for it really fast.

[identity profile] bayushiboy.livejournal.com 2006-02-06 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Woo+

Steelers!
