As of Nightwing #115....

Devon Grayson will no longer be writing it.

I'd been hearing rumors of it but now it is official.

Excellent. I can start buying it again.

As of the One Year Later... event, a lot of the writing teams will be changing...

Well, yeah.

But this one makes me super happy.

I know you're a huge Nightwing fan (and I'm not, so I haven't read her Nightwing run) but I'm curious: why do you hate Devon so much?

You have my permission to rant.

Well, it didn't start out too badly. But it has invovled the biggest Mary Sue in all of comics. She doesn't think her fans are worth talking to. She had her Mary Sue /rape/ Nightwing (and I mean that literally) and pretty much ignored some important points of continuity.

I didn't like him being written as a clueless moron half of the time, unable to defend himself emotionally or think about the consequences of his actions.

Devon enjoyed high-drama and messing with people's minds.

Personally, I kinda liked it.

There were parts of it I liked. There were parts of it I couldn't stand. It got to be way too much.

The part I didn't like? Dick mooning over Barbara so much that he...*shakes head*

Dick should be the mack, he shouldn't be so hung up.

While Dick is someone that all the women want the charming part, the best part, is how he never seemed to notice. I liked him and Barbara together. For being so 'mack' he's only ever really had like three girls in his life.

I'm just saying as he's written now, he's so limp and powerless. I dislike it, I think he could be a lot more than he is now.

I wouldn't mind him and Barbara if she you know, reciprocated without being so damned back-and-forth about it.

She was. He was being just as back and forth as she was. It was a moment of misunderstanding.

I dislike how Devin writes him as wishy-washy and indecisive. That or the other way he's written in The Outsiders is far, far too close to Batman, except apparently with no self-control and flying off the handle at people all the time.

It sucks either way.

I may start reading again too.

Dick's supposed to be the well-adjusted guy. Not an angst machine like Devin writes him, nor an obsession machine like Bruce. Not reckless or immature either. He's...*normal*. Weird as that might be for a superhero. He's actually sane and centered.

I hope the next writer gets this. And also is someone who equally enjoys Dick's Titans ties to his Bat-ties. That's why I dropped the book during Dixon's run again; it seemed mandated to ignore any and all Titans references, and pull Dick kicking and screaming to re-become sole property of the Bat-ghetto.

The whole point of Dick is that he's 50/50 Batverse/DCU; he's like the linchpin that fits equally well into both worlds.
