So, I'd mentioned here that I'd met a guy through work who grew up where my Dad is from. (Well, he grew up in Houghton but that's pretty close.) Last night his company took my department out to a Mariner's game. We were hanging out and chatting and the topic comes up and he asks me:

"Hey, do you know the Sportsman's Club?"

I look at him and say, "Yeah." Because pretty much every family reuinion I can remember has had something to do with the place. I've been there /lots/. In fact, I'm going to be there in a little more than a week.

He says: "My mom was born there." I have no idea if he's telling the truth or not on this one. I think I'm going to have to ask around about it because now I'm curious. I have no idea on the timing of this stuff, though. I should have asked for dates.

Anyway... It was an okay game but I was much more interested in the Angels/Blue Jays game on the scoreboard that went 18 innings last night.

"My mom was born there." "Hokay, that's kinda creepy. Thanks for sharing!"

18 INNINGS?!?!?!? Holy crap that's going to be a long recovery.

Nah. It isn't creepy. It's kind of neat, really, if it happens to be true.

Heh. No kidding. I don't have many details but they had to be activating like... that guy in the stands who used to pitch for his college team. They way teams use pitchers these days... There coudn't be many people left at the end of that.

*nods* Well, I guess you have a point.

Yeah, they burn their pitchers twice as bright these days. I simply can't fathom 18 innings, honestly. What were the FANS thinking? "Wake me when SOMEONE wins"

Wow. Just looked up that game. A score of 2 to 1 at the end of 18 is just...sad.

Heh. Baseball isn't the same as hockey because in hockey I know that every minute of that would be awesome nail biting stuff. There is nothing greater than over time hockey. Especially in the playoffs.

OT Baseball CAN be dramatic, but it's almost always "Are we there yet?"

I'm not a big sports fan at all, but when I pay attention to sports, it's baseball. Though I do like to watch hockey to see boys beating the shit out of one another.

Heh. There is something to that but the fights are the lesser part of it for me.

Well yeah. You're a fan.

I could probably BE a fan, but that would mean I'd have MORE that I'd have to watch. And I'm already booked solid clear through the next year.
