"That '70s Show" star Topher Grace has joined the lineup of "Spider-Man 3," in which he will play one of two villains.

Mysterio? Ummmmmmm.... Hrm.

Who the hell is he playing?

Mysterio's such a lame villain.

Trying to think of who else would look good on screen - Shocker? Rhino would be too laugh out loud funny (and in the not-good sense) . . .

The rumored villains are Sandman and Venom of which Topher Grace is neither.

Shocker might work.

Hasn't Raimi made it very clear that Venom will have no part in his movies?

If he you remove the lame costume, you could do a tag team of Shocker and Electro.

I thought they were going with Hobgoblin for movie 3?

And I could actually see a Topher as (different version of) Venom. Since he looks rather like Parker, it would increase the connection between Spiderman and Venom.

Hobgoblin's to similar to the Green Goblin. I don't think that would work very well in the films. Too much too soon.

Ooooh - maybe he'll be the Beyonder? :)

I think he's changed his mind on that now that he's planning on doing six and not three.

Personally, if they wanted to go the de-aged route, I could see Topher Grace as the Vulture.

Well, they're supposedly filming three and four at the same time. I doubt we'll see Harry get totally crazy until the fourth one. It's too soon to do it before then.

That's an interesting Venom idea, though...

It seems to me that's where they are going with Osborn, Jr. They didn't need to keep that plotline going in movie 2 unless there was going to be payoff in 3.

It's totally where they're going but in 3 you have Peter trying to deal with the fact that Harry is going slowly more bugnuts and knows who he is. Harry's jumping on the crazy train but he hasn't reached the levels of his daddy yet.

I kind of hope not - Venom is such a lame villain.

Harry isn't the Hobgoblin though. Or did Marvel change history again and make him the Hobgoblin?

Mary Jane wasn't Peter's first girlfriend either, but the movies have their own continutiy.

I think Harry as Hobgoblin works better than Harry as Green Goblin II.

Wasn't there mention at some point that they were going to have a new villain in the third movie?

I can't imagine who he'd play, frankly. Though he's a cutie and a half. :)

No, you aren't crazy. Harry was Green Goblin II. But, as ocicat said, some differentiation is needed and Hobgoblin's a better choice. ;)

As for who Topher is? MY guess is either the deaged version of Vulture, or Electro. Fancier/More Garish costume, but WAY more personality.

I could see him as Electro if they did the non-costumed version that you see in the MTV Spider-Man cartoon or the way he looked in his recent New Avengers appearence. Just some guy who can shoot bolts of electricity all over the place, no multi-pointy mask.

Venom and Mysterio are lame villains? I beg to differ... though both are easy to do poorly, when done well, both are damned cool.
