A long weekend....
May. 3rd, 2005 01:30 pmBefore I get to Coachella... Apparently, I have another wedding to go to.
My sister is getting married next August.
....... Man.
So. Anyway... Coachella.
Sean and I took the bus down to the airport and checked in and had a lovely preflight drink as well as some good food. The flights down, first to Reno and then to LA were smooth. I couldn't have hasked for better flying, though going into Reno always has the weirdest flight pattern, lots of turns.
We got down to LA and I remembered why breathing down there sucks. It was... It was rough. I was more than happy to get into a car and start to head out toward Indio. It took us two... two hours to get out of LA. Augh. The rest of the drive was lovely. Except for the windfarm. The windfarm was a little freaky. We got to Indio and needed to find food. Del Taco saved my life because I hadn't eaten in hours and hours and I was starting to fall over. Mmmmmmmmm.
We got to the campground and... Well... We thought LineLand had started in the airport. Oh no. No, no. We had not truly found LineLand until we got to Coachella. We stood in line to get the papaperwork to fill out and then stood in line to turn in the paperwork and then to get our camping spot... It was a decent system. It just isn't really a fast one. We set up the tent, seeing the end of Willy Wonka on the screen they had set up. We met up with Janice and Justin briefly and then crashed out.
I woke up the next morning with the sun. Literally. When the sun hit my face, I woke up. I thought it might be later but no.... it was like... 5:45. Excellent! This began the day of too much heat and too much walking and just.... It was the longest freaking morning in recorded history. We weren't allowed in to the concert ground until 11. And besides we didn't have anything we wanted to see until much later in the day.
The concerts we all good. I... I should say more, I know but... Bauhaus was amazing. The lead singer sang all of Bella Lugosi's Dead hanging upside down. That was all cool. Weezer was enjoyable but apaprently all of the Weezer fans were diappointed with the set, so what do I know? I had fun, though. When the sun went down the wind came up and the world got cooler in temperature and things were good...
The next day wasn't so bad tempertaure wise. We saw Jem and listened to Kasabian from outside the tent, since it was amazingly packed in there and then we wandered around some and took some pictures for people and did some cool thing which I will talk about later after they have been reveraled to the appropriate parties. Then we went and listened to The Arcade FIre, who I really liked. Then we went to listen to New Order who played almost all new songs.... They did play Blue Monday but they remixed it with Kylie Minogue... which was really, really funny and well done.
Then there was NIN. I had a good time. I've heard that there were people that weren't happy with the show but I had no complaints. It looked like Trent was having a good time. I'm glad he's off the heroin and doing better and seeming to be having a good time while doing it, so that's fine with me.
After that we went to listen to the Prodigy. Not bad, not bad at all but at this point my feet were about ready to strangle me, about ready to literally jump off my legs and just kill me. So we went back and went to sleep, which was lovely.
It was really nice to come back home, though. It was excellent to sleep in today. Mmmmmm. Mrrrrrrr.

Date: 2005-05-03 08:49 pm (UTC)Goddamnit, when will these musicians learn that things go downhill when the kick the habit? I mean, look at STP. You can always tell when Scott is off the smack because suddenly their music goes straight to hell. Certain bands are heroin bands, you take away the junk and they collapse.
