Year of the Rooster...
Feb. 6th, 2005 10:26 pmWell, the year of the Monkey is going out with some interesting quirks.
This was a good weekend. The drive up was much less stressful than I had anticipated. Bellingham was apparently a little upset with me that I hadn't visited recently enough and threw some rocks at me in the pouring rain as I drove through on Thursday night. I was very tired all weekend but part of that was because I couldn't seem to let myself entirely relax when I was sleeping. Sometimes that happens in places that aren't my bed. Never anything against where ever it is I'm sleeping, sometimes I just can't sleep well in places that aren't my bed.
We had some wacky and zany adventures over the weekend. I relaxed a lot up in Canada and came to the conclusion that maybe not everything is better in Canada but a hell of a lot of things are. Including the lovely Vancouver Aquarium, that I have a pciture of myself from. Wheee. Picture. It isn't bad but I thought I was smiling abut apparently not, according to the picture.
The drive down, however, was much much different the drive up. For one, as soon as I started leaving, the rain mixed with snow... well... It wasn't so mixed and then it wasn't mixed at all and then there was tons of it and no one seemed to know what to do with themselves driving in it. To quote the radio DJ I was listening to at the time, "It's snowing like a mother out there...." And it was. Most of my journey from Coquitlam to Bellingham, because of the other drivers more than the conditions, was done at a top speed of 35 miles an hour.
I had been thinking about stopping in Bellingham on my way down and as I crossed the city line, "Where Its At" by Beck started playing and I took it for a sign. There was little surprise on my part that the song lasted until I turned on to Holly to head downtown. I made a few stops and got some bagles from the Baglery, which is still on my top five best places to get a bagle. At this point, I got some food for the car as well and headed out of town. Apparently, the city didn't want me to leave as that is when the snow started sticking in Bellingham and things got ugly there for awhile.
Still, I prevailed and made it home. Well, first, I made it to the Comic Con as it was starting to wind down and /then/ I made it to home. I did get something I think is very cool and I will eventually frame, or something like that. I got the last pannel of Richard Dragon #4 - Shiva crouching on top of the building, looking all bad ass.
I saw what of the SuperBowl that I wanted to see, thanks to the lovely magic of Tivo. I need to figure out some money things but I think I have a handle on them now, after some thought. I hate money issues. I have enough money, it is just remembering that the money that I don't have now is the money I'm going to be moving with in a few months. It's why things are tight now. That and things like the car breaking down and needing new glasses in order to stop having headaches from hell keep popping up. I'm glad that I can tackle these things. I'd be a wreck if I wasn't in as good a place as I am now. As it is, I'm just a little edgy about it.
I would have gone to sleep and posted this tomorrow instead but I needed a little time to get back to the relaxed place I was before going to sleep. I at least want to go to work feeling relaxed. I know it will get blown out of the water once I'm there but I at least want to get there feeling calm and relaxed.
Anyway.... It was an excellent weekend. I definately needed the time off and I need to stop feeling guilty every time I think about taking time off from work. Even if it is a very busy time right now. I needed it.
Good night all of you. Sleep well, when ever you do, where ever you are.
