Ugh.

I woke up feeling okay.

Then I realized it was 4 in the morning and I had woken up to cough. I went back to sleep relatively easily, all things considered. I woke up again when my alarm went off and strangely went back to sleep. I got up, coughed up a lung and tried to call my lead.

I then noticed that my voice has become an very undignified, breathy squeak.

"Hey, I'm not coming in today."
"Yeah..."
"I think you can tell why, too."
"Yeah. Take care of yourself."

So, I'm at home today. I have that horrible sick taste in the back of my throat. I don't have any meds to take for this sort of illness. I normally get sinus things. So if anyone has cough or throat hurting stuff, I'll take it, gladly.

Donations of chicken soup and drugs welcome.

I'm going back to work tomorrow because we have an-all company wide meeting that I don't want to miss. Today will be mostly sleep, I hope.

But I will be around... AIM me if you wish.

If you have whiskey and honey and lemon at home, mixing (and I'm not sure on amounts) the three together with warm water helps a lot.

I usually put enough honey in a mug to coat the bottom and be maybe a little more, but I like honey. ANd then I pour about a quarter inch of whiskey on top of that, and maybe a tablespoon of lemon juice. Fill the rest of the mug up with hot water, and sip slowly.

It's warming and soothing and makes my throat feel better.

And if you have any, Jello is soothing on a gross throat, too.

Chamomile tea can sometimes help soothe a cough.

*hug*

Feel better!

No whiskey, but I do have honey and lemon. Hot lemonade with honey is an amazing thing.

Thank you for reminding me.

Yeah. Hot water with honey and lemon is good. That's where this started. One day I added whiskey-- and it was neat.

Hee.

Anyway, feel better soon, darlin.

Hot Toddy

My dad used to make those for us when we were kids, but he used apricot brandy instead... just a touch - he wasn't some sicko who liked to get his kids drunk. :) We called them Hot Toddys.

My grandpa used to make them for my dad and his siblings when they were little, too. My dad had 6 brothers and sisters, and when one would get a hot toddy, everyone else would start coughing because they wanted one, too. :)

Hee hee!

What a cute story.

A friend of mine's folks put whiskey on her braces when they bothered her.

Someone else I knew put it on canker sores.

I dunno if a hot toddy is made with brandy or whiskey, but I bet its good either way!

My sister and I both had limp lungs, and bronchitis or pnemonia were fairly common. During those nights when we couldn't sleep because we were coughing too much, she made us hot toddys. I hated the taste, but damn, they worked!

I need learn how to make them and get the makings for when I'm sick.
