Kill Bill is more a vendetta movie. The assassin part is almost incidental.

That's not to say I don't think this is an AWESOME idea.

It is.

Mmm. If you're willing to think about Anime, you'll also need the first Ninja Scroll movie.

Mmmmm. Also... mmm... y'know, they really are hard to think of.

I will research, and get back to you on this.

The Bourne movies are pretty assassin-y.

Luc Besson is the man.

Nikita (though I prefer the American remake Point of No Return with Bridget Fonda)

Léon

You've got Hero. I'm sure Kurosawa had some, too.

I s'ppose you have to make two basic decisions ...
#1 - Does the movie have to be about the work assassins do, or merely have the main character *be* an assassin. The latter allows Bourne and Kill Bill to sneak in.

#2 - Anime too? Especially if the second #1 statement is true ... isn't that like one-quarter the genre? ;)

I've recently updating my DVD list (http://outlands.com/library/dvd.htm). Of these, the ones I'd include as "assassin films" (in the genre sense):

Assassins
~~ borderline on Bourne films~~
The Day of the Jackal
~~ borderline on Get Carter ~~
Grosse Pointe Blank
The Hunted
The Jackal
The Killer
Leon - The Professional
The Replacement Killers
~~ borderline on Sniper films ~~

... and I still need to get ahold of you to get you those celeb pics. If nothing else, drop me a mailing address (to my username @ lj), and I'll send 'em to ya.

I'm not sure it counts, but Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0165798/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnxteD0yMHxzZz0xfGxtPTIwMHx0dD1vbnxwbj0wfHE9Z2hvc3QgZG98aHRtbD0xfG5tPW9u;fc=1;ft=17;fm=1) MIGHT fit your criteria.

It might also fall into 'hit man' movies.

But it's a TOTALLY bitchin' movie.

Id say drop boondock saints as the only paid assassin in the flick is the father figure and themovie is BARELY about him.
