According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount Pictures has picked up feature rights to DC Comics limited series Watchmen. Darren Aronofsky will develop and direct the project, which is being written by David Hayter.

Here is the trailer for the World's Finest movie I showed you pictures of the other day. It's pretty slammed right now. (You can try to just go here.)

Variety has announced that New Line Cinema has picked up feature rights to Neil Gaiman's graphic novel "Death: The High Cost of Living". Gaiman is in talks to make his directorial debut on the film. Gaiman wrote the script based on his own work. The project is currently titled Death's Day. The story involves a teenager named Sexton who's been contemplating suicide. He is rescued by a mysterious teenager who claims she is Death herself, spending one day every 100 years on earth to learn the value of the lives she takes. The film takes place over 24 hours as Sexton learns to love life by spending a day with Death.

DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures, in association with Hasbro, Inc., will develop a live-action, motion picture based on the globally popular Transformers franchise. Steven Spielberg will executive produce. The film is slated for release in the summer of 2006. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Constantine), Don Murphy (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen) and Tom DeSanto (X-Men and X2: X-Men United) are attached to produce.

Matt Damon is set to star opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese's police thriller The Departed previously known as "Infernal Affairs" at Warner Bros.

Grant Morrison is returning to the Justice League, writing the first arc of a new title, JLA: Classified. This title with be a showcase for stories of the JLA that just never got told. It is likely that Gail Simone's JLA story will end up here at some point.

Lots of stuff from Comic Con. Oh my God, is some of it cool. I mean, Geoff Johns pannel alone is enough to make me make happy fan girl noises.

And quotes like: "There are currently three years of stories in the works for JLA right now." A new writer for Batgirl, which I think is a good idea. The stories haven't been bad, but they haven't been excellent, either.
