Video Business reports that New Line Home Entertainment will release the extended edition DVD of The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King in December. The trade adds that the extended edition took longer to produce because cast members, now filming new projects, had to be rounded up from all over to complete their commentaries.

NY Daily News featured an article on the Batmobile at New York's Licensing 2004. "It has to get up to 220 mph to get airborne, but then it can jump 20, 30, maybe 40 feet," said Charles Roven, producer of the upcoming Batman movie. *shiver*
Man. That script. I know what is going to happen but that just makes it better for me in this case. The anticipation of the coolness might just give me a heart attack, though.

Good cartoon news - Gennedy Tartakovsky has gotten permission for more episodes of Clone Wars. There will be 5 12 minute episodes coming in March of 2005.

The news is that Henry Cavill, Jared Padalecki and Jason Behr are all testing for Superman this week. Mostly unknown guys. A good choice, I think.

Here is a fascinating picture of Marvel's upcoming movie slate. Spidey 3 - May 4, 2007. 2005 - Elektra, Fantastic 4 and Iron Man. 2006 - X-men 3, Namor and Ghost Rider.

Viggo Mortensen will reunite with his "Lord of the Rings" studio New Line to topline A History of Violence for director David Cronenberg.

Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain will start filming on November 1 in Montreal. It will be staring Hugh Jackman. There were lots and lots of people attached to that role over the past year. Glad they're moving forward with it. It's a story about immortality and that death is something to be embraced and not feared.

Adding to the sequels that shouldn't be: You Got Served 2.

There are good reviews of Dodgeball and I, Robot coming in. (I'm kind of surprised by the later. It really just looks like a Wil Smith movie. Not that I have problems with that, it just doesn't look like it is an adaptation that will make people happy.)

There is a positive review of the Serenity script. It's got very minor spoilers in it. Not like the one I read the other day. Damn you Joss!

I'm actually looking forward to the Underworld sequel... I really liked the first one.

I have high hopes for I Robot, but only because of Alex Proyas, and I have to admit, the trailer does nothing to inspire me... certainly nothing as cool as Dark City, or The Crow going on there... but I'll have faith in the man till I see a bad movie with his name on it...

Namor is still a sucktacular idea... I don't even know anyone who has ever liked the character in comics, let alone making a movie about him... and that's saying something because I'm a die-hard Defenders fan... I think he should just be a bad guy in the 2nd Fantastic Four movie (hoping that the first one is good and sequel worthy here)

You liked Underworld? Okay. I can only like it for the fact that watching it felt like watching a LARP... or the LARP in someone's head.

I have hopes for I, Robot too but it just doesn't look like anything other than standard Will Smith summer movie. I hope it's better than that.

I agree with you. There is a lot you could do with Namor but first off, I think Aquaman would be a better movie and second of all... He's really not a character that I see carrying a movie. He's like... a villain or that guy you call when you need some badass help or something, you know?

I can't help but think that they gave too much plot away in the I, Robot trailer. It's like, at first everyone think's Will Smith is crazy, and then suddenly *bamph!* he's right! Which is predictable enough, true, but I think that leaving that bit out in the trailer might have.. oh, I dunno.. piqued my curiosity..

Sometimes, I'm glad for the spoiler.

Ah, but leaving that bit out of the trailer would have left me with the faint hope that maybe, just MAYBE, this movie would have at least a passing resemblance to the book.

Now, I know it's going to be about as close as Starship Troopers. And I'm such a crack monkey that I'm going to see it anyway.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to make another "Blade" movie? I have to wait till 2006 for X3??? I don't even remember who "Man Thing" was, wasn't he a Marvel version of Swamp Thing?

I want to hear what Harlan Ellison thinks about the new "I, Robot". I agree that it looks like a Smith vehicle.

Blade makes money. When he stops, we'll stop having them. Man-Thing is a lot like Swamp Thing, yes. Apparently it is a good horror movie, though, from all reviews.

Man-Thing was a scientist who, due to a terrible accident, became a shambling swamp monster.

His similarities to the Swamp Thing end here, though. No longer sentient, the Man-Thing is highly empathic and responds favorably to positive emotions, but those who are afraid or angry or whatever will aggravate it and force it to attack; it oozes a powerful acid when it is aggravated in such a manner (hence, "Whosoever knows fear burns at the touch of the Man-Thing.")

That's the basics of the Man-Thing.
