Mostly comic books because of Wizard World this weekend.

Gambit and Nightcrawler join Rogue in X-characters getting their own series. Jamie Maddrox is a getting a mini-series. Rogue launches in late July and Gambit and Nightcrawler are coming in September.

Gambit is also coming back to the Ultimate X-men book. There are a few panels up that look very interesting. Not so sure about the wavey hair, though.

There is a /ton/ of stuff going on with the Avengers. The Defenders are coming back, the big story arc is called Avengers Disassembled. It ties in with Spider-man at sone point and features "every Avenger ever". People are asking if Spidey becomes an Avenger but apparently they're forgetting that he (and Beast) were members at one point...

Black Widow is getting her own book, as is Dr. Strange, written by JMS.

Neil Gaiman has a project for Marvel in 2005.

Garth Ennis will be taking on another Marvel character very soon.

The cover for an upcoming Amazing Spider-Man is very interesting. Is it who it looks like? Is it not? I don't know. I trust JMS, though. He's done a really good job recently. Quesada said he anticipates volatile reaction to the story. "Be prepared to be angered, then overjoyed, angered again and then overjoyed."

Warners has finally announced that Superman is their BIG film for 2006. Let's hope its good.

Brendan Gleeson will play Defense Against The Dark Arts Teacher Mad-Eye Moody. Gleeson plays King Menelaus in Troy. Madame Maxime, headmistress of Beauxbatons, will be played by 1970's sitcom star Frances de la Tour.

Reviews coming in on the new Harry Potter say it's amazing.

The Coming Soon! Box Office Report has been updated with the studio estimates for this weekend. Be sure to stay tuned there for the final figures on Monday afternoon.

"DreamWorks' Shrek 2 earned an amazing $125.3 milllion in its first five days at the box office. The $70 million-budgeted animated sequel collected an estimated $104.3 million from Friday-to-Sunday, making it the second-best opener behind Spider-Man, which kicked off its run with $114.8 million in May, 2002. It has become the biggest-opening for an animated film in history, surpassing Finding Nemo's $70 million bow a year ago. The sequel opened in a record 4,163 theaters and its $44.8 million Saturday haul is the best for a single day, beating Spider-Man's first Saturday of $43.6 million." It's hilarious. Go see it.

THX 1138: The George Lucas Director's Cut will come to theaters as a special limited engagement this fall.

Any idea who is writing Nightcrawler? He's one of my favoritiest ever characters, but for some reason I'm just sure they'll get it wrong.

The Madrox mini sounds amusing, since it's written by Peter David. And co-stars Wolfbane and Strong Guy...

And Dr. Strange by JMS! Woo!

Smells like the mid-90's all over again.

This sudden glut of X-Titles (and the whole "reboot" nonsense) spells nothing but trouble. It's overkill, if you ask me.

It will be written by Roberto Sacasa-Aguirre, who recently became exclusive to Marvel, with art by Darick Robertson.

I'm not at all sure it that's good or not.

The Dr. Strange book is going to be a Year One sort of project, or so that's what he's saying. It'll be interesting.

*shrugs* You're right. They're even bringing X-Force back.

The thing is, the X-books /desperately/ needed to be rebooted in some way. No one was paying attention to anything else done by anyone and... there was a lot of crap going around. Just horrible. I'm going to be reading Astonishing X-men (Joss has earned my readership) X-men and Rogue. I'll look at the Gambit and Nightcrawler ones when they come out.

Well, I think you and I have established our differences in opinion on NEW XMEN...i thought it was astounding and it pisses me off that people are completely disreguarding what was established in Morrisson's run.

Joss Whedon does nothing for me. Was never an Angel fan or a Buffy fan...Firefly was okay. However, I read the preview of his X title and it seems interesting so I'll be picking it up. The new costumes look terrible.

Well, they're ignoring /some/ of what he did. I dont' care who wrote it. If they wrote it you can't just go around and freaking chance it the next story arc because you didn't like it. You work with it. Bah.

Joss' title looks really good to me. I'm hoping it is as good as it looks.

It DID look good. We'll see.

Now, as far as the Morrison thing is concerned...people are complaining that he ledt too many things dangling..but he didn't. it was all tied up with a nice little bow...All they needed to do was pay attention.

Morrison challenged the readers and, damn it all, they didn't like that. not one bit.

So, yeah...That's unfortunate.

Nightcrawler's a favorite of mine, but I don't know if I really CARE about a solo series for him. I like my Nightcrawler in early Excalibur...But change is good. Or it CAN be at least.

I appreciate what Morrison attempted. I like change in characters. I just couldn't see how he got from where the characters were to where he had them.

But enough. We've beaten that horse into the ground. We'll see how Joss does on Wednesday.

Yeah. It did some really interesting things. Exiles is still decent... It's interesting that they're adding Namorita to the mix, certainly.

never got into that.

What Marvel is doing recently sounds just disasterous...i think Bendis is going to burn out soon...I dunno.

Oh, god, no.

Gwen had a good death. A very poignant and beautiful death.

Her clones were dumb.

The other clones that came forth afterward were even more dumb.

Peter's clone was the dumbest of all.

Please, JMS. Please. You're doing a decent job on Spidey right now. Please, if you're going to bring in old plotlines, how about some actual Spider-Man villains? You know, like the sort we haven't seen for a couple years now? Electro? Rhino? Mysterio? Venom? Kingpin? SOMEONE that's not a major mystic something-or-other from another dimensional plane here to get Spider-Man for being the modern incarnation of Ananasi?
