La la la ... movies... and comics...
Jun. 23rd, 2003 07:55 amPirates Of The Carribbean has been rated PG-13. This is the first time a Disney movies have been rated higher than PG.
Variety reports: Angelina Jolie is in talks to play Catherine the Great in "Love and Honor," the historical epic that Randall Wallace wrote and will direct for Disney. (Randall Wallace also did "Braveheart," "Pearl Harbor" and "We Were Soldiers")
Go see the Peter Pan trailer. Now. It has been awhile since a movie trailer made me shiver in anticipation like this one did.
The Punisher trailer is better than I thought it would be. I still think if there is a Marvel comic book movie coming out that will be the one to ruin it all it will be this one. I'm not counting anything DC since nothing seems to be happening. It's hard to do The Punisher right and not make it cheezy. Gritty crime drama has been over done. I hope it comes out well.
As “Catwoman” prepares for principal photography this September, FilmJerk.com has learned from several sources that the newest screenwriter to try his hand at the project is Ed Solomon. Originally a DC Comics character, Michelle Pfeiffer last portrayed Catwoman in 1992’s “Batman Returns.” For this effort, the leather catsuit has now been passed on to Halle Berry. Whereas Catwoman was the alter ego of Selina Kyle in “Returns,” in this version Catwoman will be the masked identity of Patience Price.
Dark Horizons has Batman and Superman news. *sigh* Shoot me now. Ashton Kutcher? I hope there is some sort of as of yet untapped acting in him or I'm going to kill myself in the theater.
The new Entertainment Weekly today has scoop about Wonder Woman. "Producer Joel Silver, the man behind the Matrix, recently hired former Smallville writer-producer Philip Levens as screenwriter No. 4 for the project, in development for at least four years. Levens is taking his cues from the '70s TV show, equipping Diana Prince's alter ego with bulletproof bracelets and a boomerang tiara. Sandra Bullock has been considered in recent years, but now producer Leonard Goldberg (Charlie's Angels) says that he'll cast an actress "in her early to mid-20." (Rumor has it ex-Slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar is hot for the part.)" Oh dear.
JLA /AVENGERS #1: The most eagerly anticipated comic book crossover of all time has finally arrived, with alternating Prestige Format issues by Marvel & DC Comics. What cataclysmic threat could endanger two universes - and dwarf the combined power of both Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the World's Greatest Super-Heroes? With appearances by every Avenger and JLA member … ever. (Ever? Everyone? Wow....)
MARVEL 1602 - All's not well in the Marvel Universe in the year 1602 as strange storms are brewing and strange new powers are emerging. Best-selling novelist Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert and Richard Isanove bring to life a rich new vision of the Marvel Universe that Gaiman promises is NOT a 'What If" story. But how do Spider-Man, the X-Men, Nick Fury, Dr. Strange, Daredevil, Dr. Doom, Black Widow, Captain America and more Marvel stars appear in the year 1602?
All that plus this. Mmmmm. Hopefully its good.

Date: 2003-06-23 08:24 am (UTC)[1] You know, the JLA Detroit era character, break dancing latino who carried a boom box and had the power to emit sound waves or something like that but most definitely was not a cliche at all....
...really....

Date: 2003-06-23 08:26 am (UTC)I think Dan Savage has some skills he'd like to see Ashton Kutcher performing... but I don't think they'd be right for Batman... unless it was a version of Batman and Robin that has yet to see official light of day...

Date: 2003-06-23 10:37 am (UTC)I don't think it'd be all that hard. If their powers came back gradually instead of in a whollop, I think she could learn control. Anyway, I'll be very annoyed if she doesn't. :)

Date: 2003-06-23 10:41 am (UTC)That six month jump pissed me off too. What happened to Kitty? She feel to earth and then what? Suddenly she's in college? Yeah lots of stupid things.
Re: re: x-treme x-men
Date: 2003-06-23 10:48 am (UTC)In fact, now that I think about it, that was after Rogue had temporarily lost her powers because the whoozis had turned all the mutants from mutants back to normal human beings. Hmmm!
The 6 month jump was incredibly, incredibly stupid and annoying. Not that I'm holding a grudge or anything. :)

Date: 2003-06-23 11:10 am (UTC)Yeah. I don't know. I just assumed it was because he was metal. I'll have to see if I can find the one where she absorbs him and Nightcrawler and Wolverine... Hell just about everyone to stop a missle. One of the ones Magneto had stolen, I believe.
Hrm. I don't know. I'm sure there is someone out there who kept track of this stuff.
Re: re: x-treme x-men
Date: 2003-06-23 01:05 pm (UTC)I'll look on the net, later, for a definitive list of who and when and how Rogue's absorbed. :)
