Opening it up...
Jun. 16th, 2003 07:48 amFeel free to ask me a question or two. The interview thing is fine, but I'm generally all for questions. There aren't many I won't answer. So... Ask me something and I'll post the answer. (Or if for some reason you don't want me to, I can always e-mail it to you.)
I'm getting a little burned out on gaming. I'm not sure what I want to do about it yet, but I can feel the burn out hovering in the background. Some people can game every other day. I, however, cannot. (Thank goodness I'm not trying to, either.)
I'm a little tired this morning. The guy in the office with me this morning either played rap with lots of words in the songs I don't want being said while I'm on the phone... or easy listening that puts me to sleep. So, I listen to my stuff but I can only wear headphones for so long. Especially when I'm making phone calls.
*yawn*

Date: 2003-06-16 08:02 am (UTC)When I got burned out, I cut back on playing until I didn't feel burned out. Which sometimes meant cutting back, other times meant quitting them all ... and if a group folded because I quit, I'd feel a little bad, sure. But really, it's better to do that, than get resentful, 'cause you feel it's your obligation to play (to satisfy others).
And ... heh, I have a roomie who swears like a sailor, esp. to computer games he's playing. Nothing like having Mom or my boss on the phone (when I'm at home) and have them hear a string of expletives ... *rolls eyes*

Date: 2003-06-16 11:45 pm (UTC)I once worked for Blondie's Pizza in Berkeley, which was staffed primarily by students who didn't give a rat's ass about service. One night, the manager got a call from a customer complaining about a pizza that wasn't delivered. And after a brief period of trying to make things right, with the customer refusing to be mollified, the manager finally shouted into the phone, "You want your pizza, bitch?"
Then he pulled back from the phone, and looked at the receiver as though he were surprised, and said to me, "I guess not."
What does this have to do with your post? Only that I've told this story out loud maybe three or four times, and to get the context right, you really have to bellow, "bitch!" And every time I've told this story, it turns out I was unaware of someone on the phone in close proximity to me, who was having a conversation in which the interjection "bitch" was fairly inappropriate. Not rap music, but along the same lines.
