From what I can hear, the problem with this is an attempt for them to modernize themselves. There are sort of... hip hop? (I can't think of a better term at the moment. Still mostly asleep.) elements in this St. Anger song. If they weren't there, it would be a much better song.

The problem certainly isn't Lars. Damn. Have his arms fallen off yet? I keep on waiting to hear he's some sort of drumming android.

no kidding. Lars rocks! James on the other hand. *wrinkles nose* His voice doesn't have the power that it used to. It's like all of a sudden he's lost his confidence, and prolly some of his anger as well. Which in life is good, but a bit dissapointing considering what the band is and has been. I think to, that they made his voice to "obivious" (thought that might not be the word i mean). I.e. the mix isn't exactly right. I love parts of this song. But i totally agree about the "hip hoppy" add on. Ick....like they are trying to include something that's hot but isn't them.

I found it hard to distinguish the tracks I heard on the radio from the generic "anger pop" that gets so much airplay these days. I was listening and thinking, That voice sounds really familiar... oh, shit, is that James Hetfield? Then I wept inside.

*goes to listen to ...And Justice For All*

*nods* There is potential in the begining of it... And then... It just all falls apart about the time they do the transition into the slower, almost waltz tempo.

Just didn't work.

And then whatever the voice over was doing there... That sucked.

Maybe later I'll pull out some Hendrix or some Melvins.

God, there's a dichotomy.
