Con this weekend. YEAH!!! *ahem*

So, The Two Towers will be out on DVD on August 26th. Much like last year, this will be the theater cut. I know nothing about what else might be coming out. (We're starting to get promo stuff here at work.)

Lots of reviews of X2 are coming in. Some of them glowing and some of them not so glowing. I understand that people want Rogue to be invulnerable and flying and ass kicking and such, but... They re-invented her and I understand that. Yes, we want a fastball special and Shi'ar and Sentinels and blah, blah, blah.... They've re-invented staying true to characters and I'm okay with that. (I'm going to stop this now before I go into a full rant about how doing some of the plots in the comic would be amazingly stupid.)

I think Harry's right here. Orlando and Johnny. Yep. Yummy picture and a link to Orlando introducting the Pirates trailer in a very relaxed sort of way.

The official Red Dwarf: The Movie website has posted an update on the status of the film. Doug Naylor is currently in Australia investigating studio facilities and commencing preliminary design work for intended shooting in late September. The move may come as a surprise to those who expected a Shepperton shoot. "We had originally planned for Shepperton," Doug told reddwarf.co.uk, "but at the time we were told there were no studios available. We looked everywhere - Germany, Austria, Italy - and eventually Richard Taylor at Weta (Lord of the Rings) recommended Australia."

The expanded TT DVD will add (IIRC) 43 additional minutes, according to an interview I saw with Peter Jackson.

I'll see if I can find it.

They should make TTT the Purists Cut where all of the deviations from the text are gone. I bet that would sell.

I think it's quite clear that the X movie universe is simply not the same one as the comics universe. It's like the Age of Apocalypse or Mutant X (comic, not tv show) universes. The same but different. :) And they're doing a great job staying true to the characters, even if they're reinventing them. I think it works. *nodnod* (I said, preaching to the choir.)

That and as I started to say there are plenty of things in the comic book that would not transfer well to film at all.
