Someone already mentioned ginger, if you can find real ginger ale made with actual ginger (check the ingredients list, Polar makes some), I find that works better than candied ginger (the sugar tends to hurt more than the ginger helps, for me at least).
Also, oddly, cinnamon works for some people. You might try a little cinnamon in tea, and see if it helps any.
