The whole series of Eva for cheap. Huh. Mmmmmmmm. Eva.

So.. The weekend was strange. Not for any reason in specific, it was just that time seemed to flow strangely. Some things took forever and others not so much.

Damned end of Farscape. Ouch. That hurt. A lot. I'm glad they chose to go on with the last minute or so. I would have felt ... well... dissatisfied with the pat wrapped up with a bow ending. If there is a series that should not end all nice and clean, it is Farscape.

I got Civ III. I love this game. So much goodness. Woooooooo. I will play all the time. Another love affair with my computer.

Went to see Les Mis on Sunday. I loved it, of course. The first act felt as though everyone was trying to rush through it. Eponine and Marius were both very good. There was an attempt to rush through A Little Fall of Rain, but the girl playing Eponine wouldn't let them and grabbed the tempo almost forcibly. After that, things were much better paced.

Game was good too. Still mulling over that stuff. I'll likely post something about it in specific later. I also need to get e-mail back from Max.

I actually didn't like Civ3 much at all. I find Civ2 to be much better... *ponder*

Speaking of which... My space ship should arrive in 1977... PARTAY HARDAY

I like Civ3. I think it s much more realistic in some manners. Less in others but all in all, I like the game a lot.

All Region DVDs are 99% bootlegs with horrible, HORRIBLE quality. Just be careful.

I mean Region 0 (zero) DVDs.

Hey, speaking of which, my parents are looking for a laptop to play DVDs for them. They do a _LOT_ of traveling on their boat and they don't want to have to import form the states and what not. Any ideas? They're in the Med right now, but they're coming to the states for a month or so.

There are DVD players (and drives for laptops) that will play all regions available - not sure about prices and such. Biggest problem is what's called PAL speedup - TV (and movies) play faster in other countries. Sounds funny, but it's true. I never liked watching movies on a laptop - never seem to have enough memory - lipsync problems are common.

I wasn't sure if PAL had any influence on the DVD formats, but I guess so. Would the drive need to care about this? And would hardware decoding on the drive itself be enough to compensate for the drawbacks in the laptop?

The DVD drive would need to be PAL capable I believe - not sure about that. I'm pretty sure that regular DVD players, even multi-region, need to be able to play PAL discs.

My wife has a laptop (three years old) that plays DVDs okay - once we upgraded the RAM from the standard 32 to 160 (added 128.) With the lower amounts of RAM, the movies played horribly.

Okay, cool. That doesn't sound so bad at all, then once I find a suitable player. They're planning on having it for quite a while and want to use it on their boat so they don't have to go rent a player at every port.

Thanks for the help man! :)

I didn't get to play a lot, but the gap between 2 and 3 is a lot greater than the gap between 1 and 2.
