Heh. Yeah. I think so. Yep.

"We believe 'Birds of Prey' proved there's a fantasy audience there and a male audience there," WB Entertainment president Jordan Levin says.

The problem, Levin says, was that they failed to find a "strong writing showrunner" who worked well with creator Laeta Kalogridis, a feature-film writer ("Tomb Raider" ) making her first foray into television.

"We think we can attribute the erosion of 'Birds of Prey,' quite frankly, to a failure of execution," he says. "We think we had a very strong concept and just failed to execute it, and audiences abandoned the show as a result."

Wow that was rather honest, wasn't it?

Yeah. I appreciated that and I agree with the statement.

As someone who managed to watch exactly one episode of the show, I can't argue.

Perfectly accurate. The writing was crap. I watched about an episode and a half and while everything LOOKED fine, with the possible exception of Huntress's clear-vinyl-raincoat-cape thing first episode, it SOUNDED exactly as silly as comic-book dialogue spoken aloud always does.

"Hey, why don't you carry any weapons?"
"I am the weapons."

Of course, I also blame some very mediocre casting. Babs was stellar. Couldn't have asked for better. No complaint there. But the pseudo-Black Canary chick, whose name I can't remember, had less personality than oatmeal, and Huntress...

Badly acted in the first place, overacted on top of THAT, just all 'round poo. MERELY APPLYING A PINT OF LIP GLOSS AND AN 'EDGY' HAIRSTYLE, GENTLEMEN, DOES NOT MAKE A CHARACTER COMPELLING. I knew that particular casting call was a bad one the moment I saw the promo material at ComicCon. Badbadbad. Shoulda found someone a little less haute-couture and a little more kicking-ass-in-black-leather. From the very get-go Huntress was dubious and not believable and I chalk most of that up to the combination of makeup and body type.
