Oct. 24th, 2002 09:06 amHmmmm. The man they've arrested for the sniper shooting lived in Tacoma not to far from Fort Lewis and was in the Gulf War. His step son went to high school in Bellingham. They're both in police custody now on the east coast.
Wheeee. Or something.
(Edited for context. Entry orignally written out as it was in my thoughts.)

Date: 2002-10-24 09:20 am (UTC)It's kind of strange - just a few weeks ago, the Tacoma paper was talking about how immune the West is to all that is happening. The writer was also making a joke about certain sports people from Seattle who seem to think Washington is on the other side of the world and just recently got indoor plumbing. And now all this happens. The suspected sniper is from Ft. Lewis and Tacoma. So, we aren't immune afterall.

Date: 2002-10-24 09:56 am (UTC)Yeah, this guy was stationed at Ft. Lewis and served in the gulf war. But to what capacity. One of the many news stations that like to speculate on everything, interviews a Vietnam War Era sniper who stated this guy wasn't a sniper - he was just a killer. He was too close, not doing things right.
We might not ever know for sure.
