This story is bizarre. The conclusions drawn are that the PS3 may lack hardware, as if it would be delivered through broadband... but the comments made by officials and the other details don't support that conclusion. Just because they're not thinking about hardware yet doesn't mean there's not going to be any. Then it talks about the MS next-gen box doubling as a PVR, and refers to Sony putting out a PVR last week, as if TiVo and ReplayTV haven't been around for ages.
I seemed to see that the PS3 would be an OS of sorts. They seem to be thinking more software wise as opposed to hardware, since they already have the harware, for the most part. There has been quiet rumbling between MS and Sony since the X-box.
