I just watched the end of Braveheart.

I know how inaccurate the movie is. I've been told by many differnet sources about how wrong it is and how it doesn't portray the truth. (I once got an almost 20 page write up of mistakes from Col. Graham and he made sure to point out that he had just scratched the surface.) I have it pointed out to me repeatedly from those friends of mine who are from the UK, of which I have been blessed with a larger number than one would expect.

Honestly, I don't give a damn. I think it is a wonderful piece of film making. It pulls on strings, it makes you care and it makes you cry. I will love this movie forever.

It has a lot to do with David O'Hara. I would love to see more of this man. (In case you're wondering, he plays the crazy Irishman, Stephen.) If I'm in tears at the end of the movie, I lose it everytime I see his face. Apparently he was also in the Devil's Own. I will have to watch it again. There are a fair amount of websites dedicated to him.

Tomorrow is Patriot Games and Blade Runner. Mmmmmm.

Anyway... I cried and now I should be more than asleep.

I have to agree.

So it's historical fiction. A fictional story loosely based (VERY loosely based) on historical events. That doesn't mean it's not a good story.

I mean, do you have any idea how unaccurate the movie Blade Runner is? Did you know that the events in that movie NEVER HAPPENED?! And STAR WARS?!?!

Braveheart succeeded as a film where the absolutely true story wouldn't have. It's that simple.

The Patriot ... didn't succeed for me. It was just Braveheart, watered down and moved to the Revolutionary War in the USA.

Blade Runner ... drool ... Is that on USA tonight? If so, I'm gonna have to stay home and vege.

I forgot to comment on The Devil's Own.

IIRC, that was the Harrison Ford / Brad Pitt movie about the IRA that only included one explosion and very little gunfire.

I ask you: What is the point of a summer movie with Character Development? I just don't get it!

*nods* It is on tonight, yes.

The Patriot worked for me in a few ways. The first is that it was bloody. Wow. There are a few scene in there that were chilling because of what they did and didn't show.
