FANTASTIC WEEKEND
Oct. 25th, 2010 01:21 pmDid I ever need that.
Friday - Went to the BSG opening at the Sci-Fi Museum with Mike and Kris. That was fantastic. Hadn't seen Mike in FAR FAR FAR too long. Need to work on that. There may or may not be plans for Picasso viewings in the making. The BSG exhibit is well worth going to as there is a ton of cool stuff from the older show and, of course, the more recent show. I want to go again when I have more time /and/ there are fewer people. I'd like to sit down and listen to the videos about scoring and such. Luckily, it will be there through March 2012, so there is a ton of time to go and see it.
Saturday - I went to the zoo with Kris, Carol, Chris, Nat, Em and Brian. We saw a lot of animals ans only got a little bit damp. I managed to scrape up and bruise both legs pretty intensely but I rolled with the fall so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. No real damage. The Grant children are still completely adorable. We will have to do the zoo again some time but I think we'll be trying the aquarium next just because there is less outside there for the wet and the cold.
Then Kris and I got in the car and drove southward. We, after some guessing and general uncertainty managed to navigate to our hotel, which was, I must say, pretty darned posh. It was a comfortable place and warm and pretty much fantastic. It was wet and stormy outside, so we didn't stand in line for VooDoo donuts - at least not for very long. About 5 feet in 15 minutes was longer than I was willing to wait. So, we went to Kells and had some fantastic food while listening to some excellent live music. Most certainly would go again. Geli showed up sometime in the night having tromped through most of Portland in the soaking wet.
Sunday - Woke up, got going and had breakfast at The Bijou Cafe. The wait was a little absurd but the food was plenty tasty. I would like to try it again on a day where there wasn't a marathon finishing in the area and I wasn't trying to make plans on the fly with other who were making plans on the fly. We went to Powell's, I spend too much money but on things I had been looking for, mostly. We went out to Wonder Woman Day, saw Iron Man singing karaoke, looked at some fantastic art and didn't decide to bid on anything. It seems like a great event but when your biggest events are a raffle and a silent auction... Well, it seemed like there could have been something a little more to it.
After Wonder Woman Day we stopped at Peete's Coffee to meet up with Greg and chat. The weather was still having fits so - sunny, windy, pouring, pleasant... It was a very interesting conversation. I like having to think about problems more directly. I know a decent amount about on-line retailing but if I were to start something, I can see the problems that would be present. Still, there are some commonalities in all of these sorts of projects. I have a feeling I'll be thinking about some of this for awhile. It is the sort of problem that makes my brain turn.
Working my way through The Last Run. Quick but excellent read so far.
