Bits for you!
Apr. 16th, 2010 10:07 amSo, there is a ton about Joss Whedon right now. It seems he's directing (or in final negotiations to direct) The Avengers, is re-writing the script and is /also/ getting a pass at the Captain America script. News on Cap has been slow in coming - casting seemed to take a long time and they're still putting the pieces together. So, either Joss has a lead in to the Avengers he wants to put into the Cap movie, the Cap script sucks or some of both. (At least that is what seems likely to me.)
Now, don't get me wrong, I like Joss but ... The Avengers doesn't really seem to fit his typical style. That and I'm frustrated with how little he's seemingly able to change it up. There was a time when he could take different angles on things but recently, everything seems to have the same plot point trajectory. I'm re-watching Buffy season 5 and 6 and it shows pretty strongly there. I might have to go back further and check.
Speaking of Cap news - British actress Hayley Atwell has been cast as the leading lady Peggy Carter in "Captain America".
Variety reports that USA has ordered two further full seasons of Burn Notice on top of the fourth season which begins broadcast on June 3rd. (16 episodes in season 4, for those paying attention.)
Paramount is /still/ trying to get a Might Mouse movie up and running.
There was a big kerfuffle about a report that Hal's suit in the GL movie might be CG. Well, I think, really, if you do it right, that's a good thing. It is supposed to be ring created, right? At least the first time or two, so giving it that sort of look is a bonus, I'd think, to establishing the abilities and look of the ring's power.
IDW has announced both a D&D comic books series and a new set of Cthulu comics that they'll have coming out this summer. (August and July respectively.)
C2E2 is this weekeng, right now in fact, so I'm sure we'll see a lot of news come out about that this weekend. Already there is something about Marvel killing off Dracula... maybe with the X-men?
