Empire says, from an interview with the producer, that Brett Ratner is no longer directing the new Conan movie. This is a good thing, I think. We'll see who they pick to replace him, though.
Universal is putting together a new Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde with Keanu Reeves in it.
Samuel L. Jackson and his company Uppity Films along with Andras Hamori's H20 Motion Pictures have moved to secure the life rights of Andrew Mwangura. (That's just an odd statement 'life rights'.) The name probably isn't too familiar but he is a negotiator between pirates and the owners of vessels hijacked off the coast of Africa. He negotiated the situation with the pirates who hijacked the tanks.
Disney and Pixar will launch an animation studio in the fall in Vancouver due to the number of projects they have on their plate at the moment. Supposedly this studio will be focusing on Pixar's 'legacy characters', using that term differently than I am used to hearing it by refering to the characters that they see as their legacy instead of once that specificaly have a legacy.
