Friday was getting down to Tacoma by train. It was a little nerve wracking there for a moment, hoping everyone would be able to get to the train on time. But they did and the ride down was good. And then we were off to the spa. I soaked, I sweat I was scrubbed to within an inch of my life. I never, ever, ever imagined that there was that much dead skin on a person. Oh my dear Lord, ick.

I am still smooth from the scrubbing and hope to remain so. I like that feeling. The only problem is this sort of thing seems to cause my face to break out, which is an odd thing for me, never really have had to deal with pimples until my late twenties. What the hell? Anyway, thank you for organizing the trip. It was a lovely, lovely time and I would like to go back some time.

Saturday was caucusing! I've already posted about that. And then after that Mike came over! Mike is amazing. I really don't know what I did to get a friend like Mike but whatever it was I'm SO GLAD that I did it. It is cheesy as hell but I truly am thankful for every day he's in my life and I'm a better person for having friends like him. He gave me early birthday presents, helped get the Xbox360 set up and on-line and then he, Kris and I zoomed to Best Buy.

Zooooom!

Where I purchased this lovely and amazing thing. No more small TV for me! Oh no. Now I have a lovely and flat TV all for me and Kris and our video gaming selves. It'll take me awhile to pay off but I got a good deal on financing and if it takes me longer than that to pay it off, I honestly have larger things to worry about in my life.

We came home and Mike helped me set everything up and then we set up the Rock Band. Brian and eventually Holly came over and we played Rock Band! Our band's name is "My Pain is Valid". I'm expecting we'll be a huge hit with the emo crowd some day. Honest. Watch for it in stores near you or something.

Sunday was hanging out and playing Oblivion for me. Playing Oblivion and then watching six episodes of Buffy Season Six. (We couldn't very well stop BEFORE Once More With Feeling, now could we?) So far the whole Willow thing plays out much more smoothly in watching them in chunks. I didn't sleep all that well last night as it seems to be warming up outside, finally. I was too warm last night for the first time in ages.

So. That's my weekend.
From an article about the strike by Thania St. John, WGA member.

"Sometimes peace is born from struggle. And sometimes resentment is born from compliance. There is nothing wrong with wanting a fair share of something that you have helped build. And there’s nothing wrong with revisiting a contract every three years, especially when there is a changing marketplace involved. Not making any gains for the sake of peace is the same as sealing up a pot of water and turning the flame on low. Eventually something’s gonna blow. (Like the size of my check, for example.)"

As an update, the contract is being voted on right now. There are a lot of people saying the strike is over but it isn't over until the contract is agreed on by the body of those voting. While I don't think they're going to reject it, it is a good thing to remember. They're also voting whether or not to keep striking while the contract is ratified. Lots of variables out there still.

In other news, The CW canceled WWE Smackdown. Currently the show is being shopped to MyNet and NBC.

Two Hasbro-related live-action movies are scheduled to be released in 2009 — Transformers 2 and G.I. Joe, based on the Hasbro action figure starts shooting today.

Julie Taymor has cast Jim Sturgess as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Evan Rachel Wood as Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming "Spider-Man" musical.

MTV reports that, in a conference call on Thursday, Activision announced we'll be seeing a new "Spider-Man" game in 2008, as well as a sequel to Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Which is totally sweet because how could you not after a cliffhanger like MUA? I just hope there is a way to keep the choices you made in the first game...

The World's Finest reports that Nathan Fillion will provide the voice of Steve Trevor in the direct-to-DVD Wonder Woman animated film. He'll be joining Keri Russell, who voices Wonder Woman, in the film scheduled to hit stores in late 2008/early 2009. Nathan Fillion good. Keri Russel... Ummmm. I don't know.
