Jan. 11th, 2008 10:06 amThe Weinstein Co. has followed United Artists by signing a nearly identical interim agreement with the Writers Guild of America. The deal, which also covers Dimension Films, will allow the pace of activity at the company to resume.
Variety says that Christian Bale is in negotiations to join Johnny Depp in Michael Mann's upcoming Public Enemies. In this movie Mr, Depp plays Mr. Dilinger and Bale will play the FBI agent hunting him down.
SCI FI Wire reports that Ron Howard's Imagine Entertainment and Universal Pictures are negotiating with the estate of legendary SF author E.E. "Doc" Smith for film rights to Smith's seminal "Lensman" novels, said Al Trestrail, Smith's grandson and manager of his estate.
Nu Image/Millennium Films has made a North American distribution rights deal with Lionsgate for a new film series based on the Robert E. Howard-created character Conan the Barbarian. (Lionsgate is also rumored to be working on an agreement with the WGA.)

There are Dark Knight script leaks starting. I haven't looked at them but they could be false, red herring sorts of stuff. I don't really want to know more about this movie than I already do.
