I feel somewhat melancholy this morning but not in the typical way where the past snakes out and tries to trip me up, to weave me back into it. No, this morning it is more of a looking forward melancholy and a wondering about the future.

To those of you who are embarking on new projects, new ventures, new jobs... All of these things, good luck to you. If there is anything I can do to make your risk less uncertain, let me know.

There is a thick fog over parts of the city. I cannot see the Columbia Tower from here... Thinking about it, I almost always feel like this when there is thick fog out there. It's a big metaphor, I would guess.

Miracle was good. Not just sports movie good but on a normal movie level. They handled everything beautifully and did not shy away from a lot of things I might have expected a Disney project to stay away from. And though I knew the outcome of the situation, it was still some breathtaking hockey. The excitment was there. I came out of the movie on a high. I recommend it to you, all of you.
I'm listening to my launchcast player and I hear what sounds like a jazz band warming up. It sounds like they're going to be playing Black and Tan Fantasy. And it sounds like, well, like they're pretty damned good. I continue listening, being a little caught up in what I'm doing, not looking at who the artist is, waiting.

So, they start and there is something wrong with the take and the person recording it asks a question and the answering voice is Duke Ellington. I smile a little bit, listening to them talk before there is another, entirely unmistakable, voice adding in his opinion - Louis Armstrong. There are some jokes and some more false takes before they take the recording of the full song.

I don't know why but that just made my morning.
WB has officially announced The Batman, the new animated series. Here is a page with some details and some of the art. I have to say I'm interested but it will be very odd to have someone other than Kevin Conroy voicing Bats.

Word is spreading that Sarah Michelle Gellar wants to be Wonder Woman. It's probably not at all real, just reaction to the other Buffy star news of the same. Charisma Carpenter said that she wanted it too, last week. I don't know who I'd like to be Diana. She'd be an amazingly difficult character to portray.

The Troy website got a huge update. And all I have to say is Achilles Shield! Eeeee!

Hero will release in LA and New York on April 16th. No word on when it wil release elsewhere. (I watched it again this weekend. Mmmmm. I must see it on a big screen. So pretty.)
