For another edition of said it better than I could...

... I present these two articles:

http://comicstheblog.com/?p=2471

I don't really have a horse in this race - at least not on a personal level. I love Barbara Gordon. I love her as a character no matter if she's Batgirl or Oracle. I totally understand why some people are pissed off - on both sides.

On a related but different topic:
http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/06/07/dc-embraces-its-dark-side/ - These are my first surprises as well as the first one of these I'm pretty sure I'm not even tempted by. It is sad that I'm so very worn out on vampires. That said, Etrigran Middle Ages adventures? I am so there. Voodoo gets her own #1, which is cool. Where are my other WildCATS, huh?

Frankenstein was awesome in 7 soldiers. Might be worth a try.

I think there are some interesting things happening here. The comics industry is writer/artist cult of personality driven right now and this launch isn't focusing on that at all. This launch is focused on concepts and characters, which I appreciate, even if it isn't always the concepts and characters I agree with. This is, I've also been told (which is somewhat confirmed by Batman Inc. taking a hiatus until 2012) that this is just the first wave of things to come.

The other interesting thign I've noticed, is that Vertigo is being integrated somewhat and leaving it to be what it is - a creator owned title and hit making machine, give or take.
