X-men: First Class

So. This movie is going to be set in the 60s. Xavier will have hair and it will sort of be James Bond-y.

I already have NO idea how they're going to fit this into the movie universe (as they're all saying it will...) but, there are other concerns here. That one, I can't tackle until I see more script or something.


Michael Fassbender - Erik Lehnsherr / Magneto
Jennifer Lawrence - Raven Darkholme / Mystique
James McAvoy - Professor Charles Xavier

I have no real problems yet. That's all decent casting and all of these characters fit in here without too much of a problem.

January Jones - Emma Frost: So, I'm guessing the diamond Emma in Wolverine was NOT Emma Frost. (Wolverine looked to be set in the 70s and that Emma was in her late teens.) As she was Kayla's sister, I'd already gathered that but if that's so, why bother with the power association? Meh.

Nicholas Hoult - Hank McCoy / Beast - Wait. Hank is how old? The actor playing him is 21, so i'm gonna guess he's in his teens. That makes the Kelsey Grammer version in his 40s? At least? Mmmmmm. That could work but it starts to get awkward if he and Scott were classmates at all.

Rose Byrne - Moira MacTaggert (in negotiations)
Rosamund Pike - Moira MacTaggert (rumored) - Well. Hrm.

Kevin Bacon - Sebastian Shaw - I... I really don't know how I feel about this. He can play an evil bastard. But... Hrm. I can't recall the last thing I saw him in. It's been YEARS.

Jason Flemyng - Azazel - This is the character that made me stop reading X-men. I read through a LOT of horribleness but that Nightcrawler's dad was a demon? (At that time, said to be Satan himself) was a bit to much for me. I'm not thrilled to see him here.

Lucas Till - Alex Summers / Havok - The guy playing him is 20. Is Alex the older brother now?

Oliver Platt - The Man in Black - Your guess is as good as mine. I really have no idea.

I think he's been focusing more on family stuff, since Kyra's been busy with The Closer and a few other things. I remember reading something about how they try and switch off projects so that there's always a parent at home.

Makes sense. It isn't like he hasn't been in movies - he's been in A LOT of them looking at imdb, I just haven't seen any of them.

I don't know about the age timing, but I think January Jones is a *fabulous* choice for Emma. Check out some of the shots from TLo's Mad Style posts -- the woman can do ice queen very, very well.
