So it seems it wasn't an April Fools report - Joss Whedon is actually on the short list for directors for The Avengers. It is an interesting choice as it isn't really the sort of property I'd usually associate him with. Then again, that could be a bonus.

At WonderCon this weekend, Geoff Johns was VERY tight lipped about DC movie properties hinting, though, that there would likely be something said in San Diego. The Flash is still in development, scripts have been solicited and Wonder Woman is pretty much where it has been for ages and ages.

The Smurfs started filming this weekend.

It looks like Megan Fox might be Red Sonja in the new Conan. I'm a little disappointed if this is so. That would be the first bit of casting I haven't liked. Then again, I'm not sure if there would be someone who I would be excited about being Sonja.

Keira Knightley and Alice Eve are both up for Peggy Carter in the Captain America movie as Emily Blunt has passed on the role.

The Resident Evil: Afterlife trailer can be found on the website: http://www.residentevil-movie.com/ Milla Jovovich and Ali Larter are both very hot and this looks to be very .... well... Matrix like. It'll be pretty.

Ryan Reynolds is just all over the comic book movies as he's now also signed to do R.I.P.D. - essentially about the police department for the dead. Interesting stuff.

There is a TON of Iron Man 2 stuff but I'm sort of shutting down what I'm looking at as I would like some things to still be a surprise when I get to see it in a month.

I, for one, am excited about a Whedon-helmed Avengers. Given the fan outcry when his directing/writing Wonder Woman was announced, I would guess that I am one of the few.

Rose McGowan would have been a better Red Sonja, I think. I also think that Emily Blunt would be an interesting choice for that role.

I...read the Iron Man 2 novelization.

LOL.

Well, it was an interesting, breezy read. It depends on how it translates to film, and how much they've changed since, I think, the novelizations don't ALWAYS follow the movie, to maintain a level of surprise.

I feel as though Marvel may have made a few missteps, but then...who knows. It might work in the movie.
