Other things today...
May. 5th, 2009 01:02 pmThe UK Home Office made public its list of 16 people banned from entering the United Kingdom for "fostering extremism." On that list of 16 are Michael Savage ("excluded because of his views on immigration, Islam, rape and autism") and Westboro Baptist Church leaders Fred and Shirley Phelps. I'm sure I should put in some sort of fair minded comment about how everyone should be treated equally but these people put a lot of hate into the world and I just can't manage it.
Also, after a three-hour debate, the Maine House gave final approval to a same-sex marriage bill and has sent it back to the Senate, for a final vote, which is expected Wednesday. Representatives voted 89-57 in favor.
In less serious news, it looks like the Wolverine sequel (in Japan!) has been greenlit. Hugh Jackman and his production company have a lot of projects on his schedule. Including: Wolverine sequel (set in Japan!), "Personal Security," a script by Matt Lieberman where Jackman will play a NY police detective, "Drive" an adaptation of a novel by James Sallis, a remake of "Carousel" and a seeming return to the Broadway stage in 2010 in the title role for "Houdini" which will have Danny Elfman music.
